Ulysses
We got off to a good start last week and six of us headed out toward Coolamon then up the road to Ariah Park and did a left turn to Ardlethan.
Sue and Pat pulled into the BP at Beckom unsure how much fuel they had on board but all was good and they topped up and rode on to Ardlethan to join Les, Mark, Neil and Don.
Ice cream was the order of the day instead of coffee and cake and when that was consumed after a bit of a chat with a couple of locals, we all motored on to Narrandera for lunch.
Lunch was at the Ex Serviceman's Club and the manager took great pains to get us to bring all our gear into the Club with us.
They apparently have some car-park scavengers at the club who are amassing quite a collection of helmets, jackets and gloves.
With lunch out of the way, we all headed home through Grong Grong and Matong, and turned right at Matong and followed the river road home through Currawarna and Euberta. We wound up just over 300 kms and it drizzled with rain practically all the way. But it was nice and cool.
On Saturday, we had another good roll up at the Commercial Club for Meet and Greet and at 11am Don, Mark, Les, Pat and Sue shot over to Coolamon and met up with seven or so old friends from the MIA Branch.
We spent a good hour chatting to them over a milkshake and a snack and then came straight home, arriving at about 2pm.
On Sunday morning, a dozen arrived at the Grauer's for breakfast and what with the donation for the breakfast and a raffle held on the morning $180 was raised to go toward the bushfire appeal.
Thanks to the efforts of Lesley and Gerhard who have been hosting this breakfast for many years now.
Usually, after the breakfast, a short ride is organised but this year that was dispensed with due to the fact that there is still a lot of bushfire damage up in the hills.
Our next Sunday ride will be on February 2 but at this stage, I am not sure where.
I'll find out and let you know next week.
Anyway, the rides start at McDonalds' Edward Street Car Park at 9am, so be there about 8.30am and away you go.
Thankfully, the heat is easing off a bit so riding is quite pleasant.
The next branch meeting will be held in the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street at 7.30pm on the 18th of February.
I will let you know of future developments as they come to hand so in the meantime ride to the conditions and stay safe.
