Thursday's comp went to Max Robinson, who carded 29 nett for a three-shot win from Peter Barnes, Eddie Wall and Peter Kirkman, 32 nett, followed by Bert Adams, Roy Sanders, Len Jenkins and Grahame Winson, each on 34 nett.

In ladies news, last Tuesday's nine-hole Summer Cup Comp continued, with Monica Kember taking care of Division 1 with 21 stableford pts, one clear of Jenny Hazell and Dee Harley.

In what ended up being a tight contest, Pat Grieve took out Division 2 with 23 pts on a countback from Ros Tilden, while Sue Oakman claimed third spot with 20 pts. NTP to Doreen Hazell.

In Friday's comp, June Byrnes won Division 1, with 22 pts, from Dee Harley 17, and Marg Hogan 16 pts. In Division 2, Jan Leonard scored 21 pts for a countback win from Ros Tilden, followed by Cae Cobby on 20 pts. NTP to Carole Gardner.

Max Horsnell found his way back into the winners' circle last Wednesday when he scored 44 stableford pts to collect the A Grade voucher on a countback from the consistent Bob Alexander.

In B Grade, another one of our most prolific winners, Eddie Wall, did it again, scoring 44 pts for success, from the ever-improving Mick Landrigan, 42 pts. NTPs to Bruce Chalmers, Bob Alexander and Col Smith. Ball Comp to 37 pts.

Members returned for another stableford event on Saturday, and in A Grade, Keith Bevan played well for 41 pts and a win from Grahame Winson, 40 pts on a countback from John Dare.

Eddie Wall picked up his double for the week, scoring 41 pts to again secure the B Grade voucher, on this occasion from Ian Morris, 39, and Ken McPherson, 38 pts.

In C Grade, Graeme Coulton scored 38 pts for a win from Graeme Loes, 36 pts on a countback from Peter Amos. NTPs to Bob Alexander, Steve Rodham and Eddie Wall. Ball Comp to 36 pts on a countback.

Tim Barlow's 18-hole Sunday Stableford completed the week, and it was Frank Veliscek's turn to take home the major prize, scoring 41 pts for a close win, from Peter McDonald 40 pts, Daren Johnston, John Burkinshaw and Ken McPherson 39 pts, then Gary Rake and Sam Rodham, 38 pts.

Well, here we are again in a brand new year. There has not been a lot of activity with a large percentage of members away visiting friends and relatives spread across this vast continent.

The last Wednesday ride for 2019 was a team of just two riders (Les and Mark) who rode up Mates Gully road to Tarcutta and Humula stopping off at Rosewood for a sandwich and cold drink at Gone Barneys.

They arrived at about 10.20am and were out of there by 11.15am and on the way home down Tumbarumba and Gregadoo roads beating the noon day heat.

Last week three members took off down the Old Narrandera Road to Matong where Mark stopped to pump up his rear suspension.

Don and Les waited patiently for this to happen and then the happy trio went back down to Coolamon savoured a toasted sandwich and a thirst quencher and arrived home back in Wagga at noon, once again beating the heat and smoke.

The Saturday Meet and Greet sessions have been well patronised over the Christmas-New Year break and are being held each Saturday at the Commercial Club in air-conditioned comfort.

The Saturday just past we had a turn out of 17 and a very pleasant morning it was. The Commercial Club is to be our Saturday venue from now on.

One of our long-time members, Lionel Callaghan, passed away on December 27 at the grand old age of 87.

Lionel was a regular Wednesday rider until about three years ago when his health started to flag, and what a great ride planner he was. Just ride to the town that had the nicest bakery for morning tea, and there was Lionel. He had a stellar career in the Australian Army and upon retirement, he managed the James Barnes cannery at Bomen (Now Heinz) and later on the Wool Combing Plant. A few of us attended his funeral which was held last Friday.

Our next get-together will be on Sunday, January 19 of this month meeting the Gerhard and Lesley Grauer's residence at 11 Tywong Street in Ladysmith for breakfast.

Start time will be 7.30am and after breakfast there will be a short ride to somewhere but that will all depend on the heat and bushfire activity.

The bushfire activity has curtailed much of our riding over the past three months and we hope that all our members and riders are safe and sound with little or no property loss.

The next branch meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 18 in the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street. Doors open at 7pm and the meeting gets underway at 7.30pm.
