In vets news, Les Hodges took the honours in last Monday's nine-hole stroke event, scoring 30 nett for a one-shot win from Roy Sanders and Max Robinson, followed by Don Kirwan and Peter Kirkman on 32, Jim Briggs on 33 and Peter Biscaya on 34 nett.

In Thursday's event, Bert Adams defied the years once again for a great score of 29 nett and a clear win from Mick Tilden and Tony Pollard, 32, and Ken Batt, Peter Briggs, Max Robinson, Charlie Down and Denis Adams, 33 nett on a countback.

In last Wednesday's members stableford comp, A Grader John Dare carded 42 stableford points for a win from Lex Boardman, 41 points.

Rod Porter scored 39 points for success in B Grade, one better than runner-up John McLeod. NTPs to Rod Whitlock, Bill Whalan and Bruce Yeatman. Ball comp to 36 points on a countback.

Members returned for another stableford event on Saturday, and Trevor Graham enjoyed a top round of golf, scoring 45 points for a solid win from the consistent Jim Briggs, 42, and Bob McKenzie, 41.

In B Grade, ever-improving Mick Landrigan put together 41 points for a countback win from big-hitting Steve Purcell followed by Tony Merrigan, 40.

Brodie Moore played really well to take the honours in C Grade, scoring 41 points for a countback win from Peter Amos, with Alan French taking third place with 39 points. NTPs to Bob McKenzie, Mick Laurent and Ken McPherson. Ball comp to 37 points on a countback.

Lex Boardman topped off a good week by winning Tim Barlow's Sunday stableford with 41 points, three clear of Peter McDonald and Gary Rake on 38, followed by Roy Sanders, Tony Martin and Rick Leonard, each on 37 points.

In the Friday AM Blind Draw, Kerry Richards & Brian Diesch grabbed the prize with a score of 9+6 from Ken Morden & Ron Rowe on 9+4.

Final day today in the Wednesday Junior Doubles Tennis Competition at the Bolton Park Tennis Complex. In the event of wet weather, the presentation will still take place at the start time of 4pm.

The competition is open to all players that are able to serve.

To enter, turn up at the courts before 4pm. Intersport Australia gift cards are awarded at the end of the competition for those players playing five matches, as well as a best and fairest award.

Leading the competition is Victoria Grantham on 59 points from Michael Paolucci-Ellis on 54.5 points, with Wyatt Piltz on 38.5 points, Beau Bradley on 28 points, Max Laurent on 27.5 and Seth Piltz on 27 points making up the top five.

Last week's midday riders went from Wagga to Adelong for a pit stop at the usual amenities, then onto Tumut and Gundagai via Gocup Road. The group, which consisted of Don, Mark, Gino, Thommo, Les and Gerhard, stopped off in Gundagai for brunch at a nice coffee shop in the main street called Cycle on Inn.

After brunch they ran down the highway to Tumblong, did a right turn there and across the low-level bridge at Wantabadgery to Wantabadgery, then Oura and home early.

Gerhard took a short cut through Mondarlo which brought him out on to the Sturt Highway about 8km east of Borambola. That bit of road is mainly dirt, so only the skilled skidsters go that way. Last week I missed Thommo and Gino of the list of adventurers.

Meet and greet would have been a fairly quiet affair, with most becoming involved with the toy run which got away at 9.05am on Saturday.

And what a great day it was. All together, we had 170 bikes come through the entry gate and I reckon we picked up another 40-odd on the way round. I led the charge with Robert Crivellaro following on his trike with Santa perched on top.

Some HOG members marked the corners for us for the duration and we only managed to miss one turn which, of course, was my fault.

After travelling through Bourklands, Estella, Forest Hill and most of the city's suburbs we ended up at the Civic Centre where the finishing touches took place.

Riders' prizes were drawn, The raffle prizes were drawn and we then had a short auction conducted by Will Stoddard.

The auction items were some wooden toys and furniture which has been made and donated by Junee Correctional Centre, plus a load of firewood donated by Mark Kendall.

We are indebted to our sponsors, GEO Group, Commonwealth Bank, Ron Crouch Transport and Ron Crouch Social Club, Teys Cargill Social Club and Wollundry Rotary Club. Many businesses in Wagga also gave us substantial discounts when we purchased toys: BCF, Kmart, BigW, Target, Jaycar, Wombats, Aussie Disposals and Sportsman's Warehouse.

And so ends another successful motorcycling year.

The only other function on the calendar is the last branch meeting at the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street on Tuesday, December 17, starting at 6.30pm with a barbecue tea courtesy of the branch.
