Forty shooters turned out on a sunny day to shoot two ranges set up by the committee on Friday. Members and visitors turned up to the range for a 10am start to nominate and start busting clays. The boys had set some interesting targets, with a lot of interference on the shot location on target some thought had to be taken in where to shoot the clay. The major winner was Vicki McDonagh, with a handicap score of 95/100.
Other winners:
AA grade 1st Matt Woolnough
A grade 1st Max Payton, 2nd Stephen Peck, 3rd Gary Byron on count back

Congratulations to Jan Leonard, who put her hand up for shot of the week honours, when she aced the par three 13th hole during last Tuesday's Canadian foursomes presentation day event. However, Una Pocock teamed with Pat Grieve to take the day's main prize, scoring 85/59 nett, for a convincing win from Jan and her partner Sandra Donohue. They settled for second with their score of 83/63 nett, and a c/b win from Trish Gray and Kitty Howe, also on a c/b. The remaining two NTP vouchers were handed to Marg Hogan on the 9th and Sandra Mellen on the 18th. Ball comp to teams with scores of 67 nett on a c/b.

Les Hodges, Barry Longmore and Peter Briggs followed with 29 nett, then Roy Sanders, 30 nett, on a c/b.
A reduced field for last Wednesday's members' stableford comp didn't concern Warren Lynch one bit, as he put together yet another great round of golf, going 4-under off the stick, for 43 points and a close win from Ross Hollis, 42, on a c/b from consistent vet Bob Alexander. I led the way last Wednesday and told the eight riders, about to embark on the day's adventure, that we would navigate our way to Wodonga. However, I omitted to tell them how we would do it and the inevitable happened when two members went the other way. Pat, Les, Woody, Oscar, Gerhard, Gino, Don and Sue set out at about 9.15am and headed down Gurwood Street to the lights at the hospital intersection (which had just turned red). We did a right turn there and headed west along the Sturt Highway to Collingullie. And that is where we had a problem, Les and Woody lost track of the first bunch and turned off down the Olympic Way to Albury.
The tailender of the first bunch (who shall remain nameless) failed to realise we had lost a couple of riders, so we didn't stop to pick them up which illustrates how important it is to know who is following and keep a lookout for their headlights. Not withstanding the fact we were two short, the leaders continued to Lockhart then Walbundrie and Howlong, where we had a refresher and answered a call from Les to arrange a rendezvous in Wodonga. After a drink and something to eat we then trundled our way over to Albury and finally met up at the Blazing Stump Hotel on Anzac Parade, close by to Bandiana. After a nice lunch at the hotel we headed for home past the Hume Weir and out to Table Top though Thurgoona and on to Culcairn, where we stopped for a breather before motoring up the Olympic Way home.
On Saturday morning, there a healthy gathering at Busy Bean Central while the Toy Run committee rattled the bucket and sold some raffle tickets at Kooringal Mall. It was a pretty disappointing morning, so we may have to think about going there next year. The next event for the Toy Run will be at the Marketplace on Saturday, November 16.
The Dee and Guy ride had eight riders front up at Maccas on Sunday morning and Guy, Dee, Mark, Mick, Les, Graham, Therese and Janine sailed off east to Gundagai through Wantabadgery. They had a bite to eat at the bakery and more or less came straight home with rain threatening.
Those who did go to Gundagai split up and took a different route home, some by way of Tumblong and some straight down the highway.
We certainly got a good dose of rain later in the day, hopefully enough to raise the dam levels around the state.
The national committee would like to remind members that the nominations for positions for 2020 must be received by the national secretary by November 30. Nomination forms can be requested from the national administration office; email secretary@ulysses.org.au or administration@ulysses.org.au
