Peter was followed by Peter Biscaya and Clarrie Ridley on 33 nett, Bernie Mogford 34, Warren Lynch 35, John Burkinshaw and Ray Gladman 36, and John Hazell and Don Kirwan, 37 nett.

In Thursday's comp, John Burkinshaw scored 33 nett for a win, from Warren Lynch 34, Les Hodges 35, John Brown and Clarrie Ridley 36, and Tony Pollard, Bob Martin and Bert Adams, each on 37 nett.

The ladies completed Round 1 of the President's Trophy during last Tuesday's stroke event.

In Div 1, Pat Tooze scored 77 nett for a win, from Kitty Howe, 79 nett. Sue Mathews played really well for 71 nett to take out Div 2, from Carol Martin, 73 nett, while in Div 3, Fay Baker scored 78 nett to get home by a shot from Jan Leonard. Ball Comp to 83 nett on a c/b.

The girls returned for an Irish 3-ball on Friday, which was taken out by the team of Fay Baker, Sue Mathews and Una Pocock with a score of 85 nett.

Sandra Mellen combined with Trish Gray, and Sue Mathews, to take second place, from Lorraine Hickey, Dee Harley and Jan Marks, while fourth spot went to the team of Vi Gardner, Cae Cobby and Gloria Vonarx. NTP's to Marg Hogan (Div 1); Colleen Mavroudis (Div 2) and Marg Gregurki.

(Div 3). Ball comp to teams with 79 nett or better.

With the front nine out of play due to greens renovations, players went around the back nine twice as they completed Wednesday's members' stableford event.

Consistent player, John Burkinshaw, scored 20 pts to win the first nine-holes (blue tees) on a c/b from Andy White and Roman Adamcewicz, while Andy ran hot over the second nine (white tees), scoring 22 pts for a c/b win from John Brown and Eddie Wall.

It should be noted that Andy's 42 pt total was easily enough for him to collect a handy purse from his fellow-competitors. NTP's to Paul Conlin (13th) and Andy White (18th).

Computer problems played their part in Saturday's Monthly Medal comp, however, the results will hopefully be available for publication in next week's Leader.

The Business Girls had no such problems on Saturday, as they enjoyed their 18-hole stableford event.

Pam Kellam probably enjoyed her round more than the others as she ran hot for 41 pts, and a solid win from Maureen Foley, 38 pts. Golf balls were also collected by Jeanette Ronnfeldt and Doreen Hazell.

The week wound up with Tim's nine-hole Sunday stableford, which went to Lex Boardman with 22 pts, from Todd Ramsay 21 pts. Ball comp to 19 pts.

Despite being very competitive, WaggaRoos were beaten by Albury in Event 7 of the Interclub Challenge last Sunday.

Conducted in the Mullengandra Range just out of Gerogery weight of numbers favoured Albury as they won the day 75: 40 and now have a very nice 44 point lead with just one event to go.

In the Interclub Orienteering Challenge points are awarded to participants for participating and completing their course and to the placegetters in each course.

The points earned by placegetters are weighted in favour of the longer and harder navigation courses.

The terrain varied considerably with the lower slopes of the range being very runnable with a few isolated rock features whereas the upper regions became quite steep with huge cliff lines.

Participants had to be very aware of their location so as to negotiate the cliffs at accessible points.

WaggaRoos competed strongly on each course and scored well with bonus points.

However, Albury members were able to accumulate points by having many more attendees.

On the 3.5km WaggaRoos Deb Davey had an excellent run winning the course by almost 4 minutes from husband Alex.

The bonus points from the quinella helped WaggaRoos.

Even though Jack Janetski finished fourth just behind Albury's Liz Wood the remaining 8 participants were all from Albury, ensuring Albury won the course 20:15.

In a wonderful display of Interclub comradery 12-year-old WaggaRoo Tom Janetzki teamed up with Albury's 12-year-old Nick Mousley to participate on the 3.2km Moderate course.

Usually, each competes on the Easy course but teaming together was a great way to gain confidence in the forest and experience a more difficult navigational challenge.

Given that they finished in second place just off the pace set by Albury's Josh Roy, it would seem they should have been doing this long ago.

They outclassed many regular Moderate course participants from both clubs quite convincingly.

WaggaRoos regulars Pauline Moore, Bob Moore, Dale Clegg and Wes Campbell all competed well against their Albury counterparts but Albury won the Moderate course comfortably 23:11.

Stuart Young was WaggaRoos only participant on the 4.9km Hard course and did very well finishing third just a few minutes off the pace.

The 2.1km Easy course was a popular course for family groups. WaggaRoos Julie, Jarrah and Eltan Mestan did well finishing third,

Nicola Smith and her family finished fifth and Nicola, Pia and Kolby Wunderlich came 7th. Albury won the day 75 : 40 and after 7 events and with just one event remaining Albury have a strong 344 : 300 lead.

The final event will start at 10am on Sunday, August 25 in the Livingstone State Forest. From Wagga drive south on Holbrook Rd towards Mangoplah.

After about 19km turn left into OBriens Creek Rd. After a further 6km turn right into Wrigleys Rd and follow the signs to the assembly area.

The usual half dozen took off around the district last week heading straight for Howlong where lunch was tackled.

After lunch, they came back home through Culcairn making the day a short ride and home early.

Thommo was not there as he is still nursing a broken collarbone with his arm in a sling.

Saturday Meet and Greet was attended by about 10 bods and it was good to see Ian Adams back on deck after a spell in hospital getting his heart back on the straight and narrow.

He suffered a heart attack at work two weeks ago and was lucky to have some switched-on people around him at the time.

On Sunday a contingent of 7 headed over to Morundah to meet up with some riders from Griffith and Albury/Wodonga for lunch at the Pub.

The Wagga mob, Gerhard, Les, Barry, Mick, Junee John, Bob and Elaine went over via Lockhart and Boree Creek arriving at about 11:30am. Bob & Elaine went by car. Fifteen travelled from Griffith and 6 from Albury/Wodonga.

The meal was tops and most had left for home by 1:30pm.

The next event on the agenda is the Tri Branch Weekend at Narrandera on the 6th 7th and 8th of September.

South Australia Odyssey from October 4th until October 7th.

Venue: The Odyssey will be held at the Kadina Football and Cricket Clubs, 1 Doswell Tce. Kadina, SA 5554

Registration: Registration forms can be accessed electronically through the Adelaide Branch Website and Branch Magazines. Registrations both by electronic means and via post, will close on September 21st 2019 as we need to inform the Caterers of final numbers. (Please consider registering by electronic means as this is much less work for the Organising Committee).

Meals: Evening meals are available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Breakfasts are available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. Meal tickets must be purchased when registering and presented at each meal.

Theme: "Cornish Miners" with Entertainment: Saturday and Sunday nights.

Accommodation: Onsite camping is available on the Oval directly in front of the Kadina Football Club for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The use of tent pegs will be restricted to short versions.

There is a camping fee of $10 per site for the one night or $20 per site for two or more nights.

The Copper Coast has four caravan parks in close proximity to the Kadina Football Club.

The Kadina Football Club is adjacent to the magnificent Kadina Sports and Recreation Centre complete with swimming pool and café facilities.

Events include: Organised rides, participation in the Moonta Markets with a special Show and Shine display of bikes, bus tour of selected OP Shops and rides for Ulyssians on the Moonta Tourist Train.

Melbourne Branch Odyssey to be held in Mansfield on the 18th 19th and 20th of October.

There'll be a group ride up to Mansfield from Lilydale on Friday 18/10 followed by a get together BBQ, a group ride to circumnavigate picturesque Lake Eildon (featuring awesome scenery and at least two of Australia's best motorcycling roads - the Eildon-Jamieson Road and the Skyline Road) followed by a celebration dinner with musical entertainment by our old friend Denis Tucker at the Golf Club and a leisurely ride home Sunday.

The rides will offer "photo opportunities" in some of our state's prettiest areas, and for those wanting to just "do their own thing" on Saturday, we will have a range of self-guided rides to various tourist locations in the area.

If you are coming from elsewhere in Australia, we suggest that, after the Odyssey, don't rush home - put your feet up for a bit and then attend the Phillip Island MotoGP the following weekend.
