Over 300 staff from Wagga, Kooringal and Mount Austin high schools kick-started term 3 by networking and sharing teaching practices to new and senior staff members.
This was the first time all staff from Mount Austin High School joined and relieving principal Michelle Waugh said this was an opportunity to improve.
"I think it's a really exciting time for public schools, particularly the high schools, with a big push to work together and making sure there is value to what we do across the network," she said.
"It gives our staff the opportunity to become leaders within their school and networks as well as an opportunity to lead in other fields.
"I think term 3 will see an increased collaboration across the network ... and this can only drive public education in Wagga to new heights."
While schools would not comment on specific areas that needed improvement, Kooringal High School principal Kyle Bryant said it was a chance to build networks with people outside of his school community.
"I'm a relatively new principal at Kooringal and so I'd like to build networks across the three schools so we can support teachers in improving and building their practice to continue benefiting the kids of Wagga," Mr Bryant said.
"One of the things is building some networks around projects that we would like to do and whether that be building leadership across the schools or supporting beginner teachers.
"How we do that is through a unit of three schools rather than on our own."
The professional learning day was for all staff, including office and school learning support offices, and was hosted at Wagga High School.
Wagga director of public schools Jenene McGrath said the day was also a chance for schools to reflect on the first half of the school year and look at ways to move forward.
"Certainly for our year 12's, the HSC is really critical and it's their last 10 weeks before their HSC exams, so we want to make sure schools are doing the best they can for the students," she said.
