A sub-par round by Kyle Harrison was not enough for a win in Tim Barlow's nine-hole Sunday comp, the honour going instead to Dave Weeden with 23 points. Kyle had to settle for 20 points, along with Ken McPherson and Peter McDonald, with Roy Sanders taking the final voucher with 19 points.

UYLSSES
NOW you have heard of the epic journey The Long Way Round by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman.
Well, we have our own version here in Wagga. The Long Way Round to Walwa by Oscar Beazley. Yes four of us left Wagga at 9.45am on Wednesday, April 10 with the intention of arriving in Walwa for lunch.
We were late leaving as I had an issue with tyre pressure and having got that sorted off we went out through Mangoplah, Cookardinia, and Morven to Culcairn for a breather and sustenance. And from here the journey began.
Down the Olympic way through Gerogery to Table Top where we turned down Table Top Road, past the Kinross Woolshed Hotel through to Thurgoona and at the end of the road did a lefty to the Hume Dam.
"Aha" I thought we are going left here across the Bethanga Bridge, past Bellbridge and on to our destination from there. But not so, we turned right, rode past the Dam Wall and then on to the Murray Valley Highway to Tallangatta. When we got to the Tallangatta turn off I thought "You beaut, a feed and a drink coming up" but once again disappointment.
We kept going until we pulled in to the Koetong Hotel but all we saw there was a six foot high sign saying "For Sale" so we soldiered on to the Shelley-Walwa Road turn only to be told, in neon lights, that the road was closed until further notice.
Well we weren't going to wait until further notice so we plugged away until we got to within 10 kilometres of Corryong. Wonderful, food and drinks coming up in about 10 minutes, but not on your nelly we spun to the left and motored over to Tintaldra after travelling through Cudgewa where the local pub beckoned us in. But we rode by.
Having got to Tintaldra it was only about 25ks back to Walwa and we got there at 10 minutes past two.
The pub shuts at two. So we had a snack and a drink at the little general store across the road.
After snacking, chatting and refuelling we navigated our way back to Holbrook then back home through Mangoplah and the late afternoon shadows. We ended up scraping about 430kms off the tyres but it did turn out to be an epic adventure. Thanks Oscar. Now while we are on the subject of Walwa they have now got 98 octane on sale there as well as 91 and the place is getting quite a makeover. Caltex Star Card is also an option for your fuel as well as all the other payment methods.
Saturday morning at Billy's for Meet and Greet was not that well attended, which was a shame because it was a beautiful morning however ten bods fronted up and enjoyed the usual coffee, muffin and some well informed conversation. Annette has sold the Billy's Café business to Kylie Bean who runs the Busy Bean in Kooringal Road. The shop will not be open this Saturday (Easter) so we are going to assemble at the Commercial Club at 10am and Annette's final day of business will be on Saturday, April 27, so roll up and bid her a fond farewell. Kylie Bean will be in charge from Saturday, May 4 so let's see what happens.
Sunday was not a scheduled ride day but I did see a ton of bikes out there on a great bike riding day, they were everywhere in ideal conditions. I happened to be in Tumut on Friday and all the coffee stops were inundated with thirsty riders from all over the countryside. Our next ride will be on May 5, we are skipping the third Sunday in April because of Easter, however don't let that stop you from going and flushing the constabulary out from their hiding places.
Don't forget to meet up with the Billy's crew each Wednesday where a ride will be discussed and head off at about 9am. Time is not a big factor for these rides the thing is to get out and enjoy the day with a few like-minded mates.
Come June all the rides, both Sunday and Wednesday will leave at 9.30am. We will keep you posted.
In the meantime, enjoy the weather and riding until the winter months come and put a spanner in the works.
