Confessed paedophile Maurice Van Ryn has pleaded guilty to repeatedly raping a teenage boy in Tathra between 2010 and 2012.

Sixty-three-year-old Van Ryn, who is currently serving a sentence of 13 years and six months for child sex offences committed against nine victims over an 11-year period, will be sentenced for the new matter in the Bega District Court on April 29.

Van Ryn pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged between 14 and 16.

The former businessman did not appear via audio video link in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, March 26, with his lawyer telling Magistrate David O'Connor Van Ryn would be "quite happy" not to appear.

Despite his guilty plea, Van Ryn had earlier attempt to keep details of his latest crimes out of the media by lodging a non-publication order which was rejected by the court.

A spokesperson for the families of Van Ryn's earlier victims said Van Ryn's plea of guilty would prevent the victim from reliving the abuse in court.

"We have to feel grateful the victim won't be put through the trauma of a court trial," the spokesperson said.

"However, it has caused us to reflect upon the fact that during the original committal sentencing defence he maintained that they were offences of a short duration, and moments of madness.

"We now have three victims for which he has pleaded guilty to the most serious charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, which to us suggests he did more than just play down the level of offending, but actually deliberately try to mislead the court."

The spokesperson said the families "look forward" to Van Ryn being handed a lengthy jail sentence.

Aggravated sexual intercourse with child of or above the age of 14 and below 16 carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in NSW.

"This is not about retribution, it's about keeping the community safe, because these people [paedophiles] can't help themselves."

Van Ryn will be sentenced in the Bega District Court on April 29.
