Not to be outdone, Linda Coombes also ran hot in Friday's Div 2 event with 44 pts for her own ten-shot win. Last Thursday's Vets comp saw Peter Briggs add to his own highlight reel. The colourful racing identity had a family of koalas hanging on for dear life after his bright yellow 'crow-proof' golf ball cannoned into the trunk of a gumtree near the 2nd fairway... and stayed there, jammed securely between bark and timber.

Not to be phased, Peter extracted the ball, took his penalty, and went on to win a voucher on a c/b!

In Thursday's comp, Ron Culgan played well for 32 nett and a win, from Tony Pollard 33, Len Jenkins 34, and Peter McDonald and Peter Kirkman 35 nett. Vouchers to 38 nett c/b.

In-form two-marker, Kyle Harrison parred the course on his way to collecting 38 stableford pts for a nice win in last Wednesday's A Grade event (picking up a swag of side bets while doing so). Kyle was followed by Grahame Winson 37, and Ray Harrison 35 pts.

In B Grade, Garry Forde scored 37 pts for a win, from Mick Landrigan 36 pts on a c/b from Graeme Coulton. NTPs to Andy White on the 9th and 13th, and Rex Kember on the 18th. Ball comp to 34 pts c/b.

Members played their March Monthly Medal on Saturday, and in A Grade, Zac Billingham scored 71 nett for a win, from Clarrie Ridley 72, and Peter Conlin, 73 c/b. In B Grade, John McLeod won a close one with 71 nett, on a c/b from Col Moore and Owen Guthrie. Daniel Emery rant hot for 66 nett to easily win C Grade, from Peter Lyons 74 and Rowan Laurent 75 nett.

NTP's to John Messing, Kevin Rafter, and Trevor Garside, who knocked it half a metre from the pin on the long par three 18th. Ball comp to 74 nett.

Finally, Country Club visitor, Mitch Mullins, scored 22 pts to win Tim Barlow's nine-hole Sunday comp, from Kylie Baker 20 pts, and Roy Sanders, Andy White, Darren Johnston and Shane McPherson, 18 pts.

Last Wednesday's ride left Billy's a little over 9am and went to Junee, Cootamundra and then Murrumburrah for refreshments at the tourist info centre.

Lunch followed sometime later at the Boorowa Bakery. Gerhard went straight home from there and the rest tootled over to Young and then to Temora and while at Temora the five of the crew left had a squizz through the Temora Museum.

In total six bods left for the ride, Smithy, Fred, Oscar, Thomo, Gerhard and Gary Gurtner and totalled up 400kms for the day in great weather.

While at Murrumburrah, they espied a CT110 Postie Bike which had undergone a mammoth transformation.

The front end had been raked out, it was fitted with a different rear swing arm and had big knobbly tyres, so obviously its days of delivering letters had come to an end. I am sure that Soichiro Honda would have been most impressed

The gathering for Meet and Greet was not great last weekend and it would seem that only the idle rich were in attendance to savour the coffee and conversation.

On Sunday, the Black Dog Ride took off from The Leisure Centre at 9.30am and went down Baker's Lane to Inglewood Road then Gregadoo Road to Kyemba and finally up to Tumbarumba for morning tea. After throwing back a few cups of coffee and refilling the fuel tanks the 200 bikes went across to Tumut and then down to the Hume Highway and the Sturt and back across the Eunony Bridge in time to land at The Palm and Pawn Hotel for lunch.

The raffles were drawn and a few lucky characters took home prizes from the draw. I didn't actually make the ride myself due to a very late night with grandkids followed by an alarm clock failure, however, I did go for a ride later in the day with number two son and we ended up at the Tumbarumba Bakery for a very late lunch. When we went to refuel at the Caltex opposite the Council Chambers, we encountered about 20 bikes in front of us.

At first I thought they were an overflow from the Black Dog, but no, they were a bunch of mates out and about, on a 3 day ride, all the way from Newcastle. After refuelling, they were headed for Boorowa where they were going to prop for the night.

Our March meeting was held last night and if there is anything of interest I'll let you in on the gossip next week. Our next ride will be on April the 7th which is significant because at 2am on that day Daylight Saving ends, so you will need to reset your clocks otherwise you will be left at the starting gate. Easter is late this year and Good Friday will be on April 19th.

In the meantime get out on your bike and enjoy the balmy weather.

The Wednesday Junior Doubles Tennis Competition continues today at the Bolton Park Tennis Complex.

The competition is open to all players that are able to serve. To enter turn up at the courts before the start time of 4pm finish at 6pm sharp. Sportsmans Warehouse giftcards awarded at the end of the competition for those players playing five matches as well as a Best and  Fairest award.

Leading the competition is Pat Wright on 32 points followed by Robert Grantham on 27 points then Michael Paolucci-Ellis on 25 with Isaac Schiller on 241/2 points and Alastair Wright and on 231/2 points making up the top five placings.

Winners of the McDonalds Sports Awards this week were Isaac Schiller and Makenna Irlam.
