While the very serious work of land cookery and handicraft judging was taking place, members were entertained by Barbara Parnell demonstrating her talent in flower arranging.
Meanwhile, Ann Adams discussed the finer points of cooking and what judges were looking for in the cooking competitions, while Jane Smith demonstrated card making.
There truly was something for everyone.
The Riverina Group was fortunate to be able to display a large number of handicrafts from talented group members.
Oura was the winner of the trophy for the 16 members and over category, while Euberta finished a close second.
For the smaller branches with 15 members and under, Coolamon took out first place, with Galore finishing second.
The champion piece of the day was won by Kaye Geppert from Galore with a beautiful patchwork quilt.
The novice section was won by Lea Warren (Oura branch) for a cotton crochet christening set, while the creativity award went to Freda Cook (Oura branch) for a crocheted sewing lady.
Group handicraft officer Annette Forsythe said there were some beautiful pieces on display of many different crafts, including a lovely trinket box made by a male member.
Riverina Group cooks were in fine form, with 100 entries received in the various sections. The judges, Judy Findlay and Rita Spencer from Barellan, had the sometimes difficult task of picking the winners.
Oura branch was the overall winner with 62 points, followed closely by the smaller branch of Pleasant Hills with 59 points. Euberta was third with 44 points.
Two new Jan Battersby Perpetual Memorial trophies for the junior sections were won by Louise Hasler, Pleasant Hills branch, for the 18 years & under section, and Ivy Chobdzynski, Oura branch in the 12 years and under section.
Group land cookery officer Lyn Jacobsen praised this year's entries.
"There were some very nice cakes, and the aroma from the fruit cakes and puddings whilst they were being judged was mouth-watering," she said.
Members winning the Riverina Group categories have been invited to enter the state awards at the CWA New South Wales state conference, to be held in Albury in May.
The group thanked all those who made it a successful day, including the Euberta branch members who had an early start cleaning the hall and making preparations after a dust storm the previous afternoon.
