The Wednesday Junior Doubles Tennis Competition continues today at the Bolton Park Tennis Complex.

The competition is open to all players that are able to serve.

To enter turn up at the courts before the start time of 4pm finish at 6pm sharp.

Sportsmans Warehouse Giftcards awarded at the end of the competition for those players playing five matches as well as a Best and Fairest award.

Leading the competition is Pat Wright on 26½ points followed by Robert Grantham and Michael Paolucci-Ellis tied on 21, with Alastair Wright and Isaac Schiller tied on 19 points making up the top five placings.

John Burkinshaw has been running hot lately. He started the week by combining with Clarrie Ridley to win last Monday’s nine-hole two-person ambrose with a score of 31¼ nett, from Kerry Smith and Peter Kirkman 32, Les Hodges and Bob Alexander 34, and Grahame Winson and Peter McDonald 34¼.

In Thursday’s stableford event, John cleaned up again with 20 pts, one clear of Russell Parr 19 pts, then Grahame Coulton 17, Russell Parr and Barry Longmore 16, and Dave Sutton 15 pts on a c/b from Mick Tilden.

The ladies played a nine-hole stableford event last Tuesday, and in Div 1,

Sue Oakman scored 19 pts for a win, from Roz Tilden 18 pts on a c/b from Marg Hogan.

The comp was followed by a luncheon and the presentation of the Ladies’ Summer Cup, which went to Carol Gardner with 23 pts, from Jenny Hazell, 18 pts.

The girls returned on Friday, when Maria McManus took out Div 1 with 18 pts, from Gloria Vonarx 17, and Una Pocock 16 pts.

It was Colleen Mavroudis’ day in Div 2, as she scored 20 pts for a solid win, from Val Brunskill 18, and Janine Fitzgerald, 17 pts on a c/b. NTP to Lyn Donohoe.

Last Wednesday’s A Grade stableford event was won by Trevor Garside with 38 pts, from Roman Adamcewicz 35 pts, In B Grade, John Mitchell scored 35 pts for a win, from Tom McDonnell 34 pts. NTPs went to Jim Briggs, Grahame Winson and Roman Adamcewicz. Ball comp 32 pts c/b.

Members returned for a par event on Saturday, and in A Grade, young prospect, Josh Conlan, managed the tough conditions well for a +2 result to win on a c/b from seasoned A Graders, Roman Adamcewicz and Paul Hallam.

In B Grade, Steve Purcell went one better with +3 and a win, from Richard Flanigan +2 on a c/b from Shane McPherson.

Ron Flanigan scored +2 to collect in C Grade, from Gary Chamberlain 0, and Les Ryan -1. NTP’s to Steve Purcell, Josh Conlan and John Dare. Ball comp to -2 on a c/b.

Dave Billingham scored 22 pts to win Tim Barlow’s nine-hole Sunday Stableford Comp, from Peter McDonald 21, and John Burkinshaw and Tony Thompson, 18 pts.

Briohny Seaman won the WaggaRoos first bush event for the year at Pomingalarna Park last Sunday.

The courses looped around the western slopes of the park having participants find various small gullies and mounds and watercourses.

The dry conditions have rendered the forest very runnable making direct navigation a real option.

The numerous tracks in the area provided some alternative route choice options and also confusion if one did not know exactly where they were.

On the 5.7km hard navigation course, Briohny Seaman did exceptionally well finding the hills to be no problem and maintaining a fast 7¼ minutes per km.

She won comfortably from John Oliver who had a strong first half of the course but then made a few small errors as he tired towards the end.

Ryder Seaman had the fastest time on the 1.6km Easy course finishing just ahead of his brother Logan.

The Easy course led participants around the old quarry and did require some care to ensure choosing the correct paths.

Pauline Moore was the only participant on the Moderate course and although managing a creditable 15 min per km just failed to beat Briohny for handicap honours for the day.

Next event will be on Sunday 7 April at Rocky Hill in Kooringal commencing at 10am.

Well, here we all are back home after a good trip away.

I am not sure what happened last Wednesday but I reckon one or two riders would have gone for a jaunt.

We keep saying that the hot weather is going to abate but, at midday, it is still as hot as ever with the mornings quite cool so at the moment riding conditions are pretty good early in the day and as Autumn rolls on it can only get better.

Saturday Meet and Greet was an enjoyable event and we learnt that the Middletons were off somewhere purchasing a new BMW to replace the Suzuki, we will see what they come up with.

There is a ride this coming Sunday (17th) and we will be tagging in with the Black Dog Ride, which will leave from Wagga Motorcycles.

Black Dog ride’s iconic annual one-dayer aims to start a national conversation about depression and suicide prevention.

Help get the country talking and join in this Sunday.

Eight Australians take their lives every single day, that’s one person every three hours.

At 7am the Lions Club will have their breakfast van on site to cater for your hunger.

The ride will depart at 9.30am for Tumbarumba and will arrive there at 10.45am for more tucker and fuel.

At 11.15am the ride will turn around and head back to Wagga, arriving at the Palm and Pawn Hotel/Motel for lunch, raffles and catch up.
