For those that missed it we had Daryl Snowden up from head office to help set up the new score and handicap system. In future you will only need your membership card which will be scan on nominating. All score will be able to then be found on the app myclubmyscore. With that we had some teething problems to start which we are sorry for the inconvenience to some people but with time (hopefully no more) we at the nomination desk will make things flow easier. We had some fifty-seven shooter that trekked out to try the range that when up the hill and down, Garry Brill, Darren Inglis, Bruce Irvine, Milton Jaeger and Matt Woolnough. It was an interesting range with a lot of new targets and ground used. And the winner are….
- Grade AA: 1st Daryl Snowden 65/75, 2nd Stephen Peck 54/75.
- Grade A: 1st Evan Speirs 63/75, 2nd Sid Guglielmino 62/75, 3rd Michael Reed 60/75.
- Grade B: 1st Milton Jaeger 56/75, 2nd Michael McMullen 55/75, 3rd Darren Inglis 54/75.
- Grade C: 1st Phillip Mathews 39/75, 2nd Michael Rundle 37/75, 3rd Jim McMullen 36/75.
Again, thanks to Daryl for travelling all the way from Melbourne on the weekend to set up the new system

Ulysses
IT WAS a pretty quiet week over the past seven days. Wednesday ride never took place because the rain scared everyone off except Gerhard who turned up on his trusty Beemer all the way from Ladysmith. So, yes, there was aride, I suppose, from Ladysmith and return.
Apart from a couple of dodgy days last week the weather has been ideal for riding and I do know of a few small groups who have been rounding up the district. Sunday was not an official ride day but that didn’t stop some. Saturday Meet and Greet had a good attendance with those who fronted enjoying the coffee and the sunshine. I personally was out of the loop having spent the weekend on a rally ride with the Wagga Classic Motorcycle Club. On Saturday we went up to Rosewood for lunch via Wantabadgery, Tumbalong Adelong then across the Pine Leaf Road to Rosewood. After lunch at the Club there we all toddled back to Wagga via Kyeamba and Gregadoo. On Sunday it was a leisurely jaunt to Coolamon and return. A great turnout with in excess of 60 old bikes of all descriptions.
The next Ulysses ride is on October 21 leaving from McDonalds Edward Street car park at 9am. This coming Saturday is the 2018 Toy Run Launch in front of the Council Chambers in Baylis Street. The launch marks the start of the toy run fundraising campaign and our major sponsors will be along to kick things off. We will be selling tickets for the 2018 major raffle, offering a sausage sandwich, collecting donations and Keith Holder and Barb Wright will be strumming a tune to keep you entertained. 2018 Badges will be on sale for the princely sum of only $5. It all starts at about 9am and will run through to about noon.
Now for you people going to the Mornington National Rally in February/March, if you want to order merchandise for the event you will need to get your paperwork in by November 9 so Natcom can get their order into the suppliers. Let’s face it the event is looming fast. You can register by either using the Online portal or filling in the form that came with your latest Riding-on magazine. The preference is for you to register online. Don’t forget to book your accommodation in Tumut for the Christmas Party, see you on the road in the sunshine.
WAGGA CITY GOLF CLUB
WITH a couple of holes out of play due to course maintenance work last Tuesday, the ladies were forced to make some adjustments to the handicapping of their Medal of Medals stroke event - as evidenced by some of the scores ! June Byrnes carded 56 nett, highlighted by a solid 43 off the stick for the front nine, to win Div 1, from Cheryl Jeffree 60, and Simone Pilotto 65 nett on a c/b. In Div 2, Jan Leonard scored 62 nett for a win, a shot clear of Carol Martin, with Doreen Hazell taking third place with 64 nett, also on a c/b, while Joan Veerhuis took care of Div 3 with 69 nett. Friday’s Ladies stableford event went to Dee Harley from June Byrnes in Div, and Glad Leitch from Pat Grieve in Div 2.
The Vets played a 4BBB nine-hole stroke event last Monday, which went to the team of Tony Martin and Peter Kirkman with 27 nett, on a c/b from Russell Parr and Peter Briggs. Alan French and Kerry Smith took third spot with 29 nett, followed by Clarrie Ridley and Mick Tilden on 30 nett c/b. Thursday’s Vets stableford event went to Dave Sutton with 21 pts on a c/b from Ron Culgan, followed by Dennis Stillman 20, John Burkinshaw, Clarrie Ridley and Grahame Winson, each with 19 pts, and Bernie Mogford and Don Kirwan, 18 pts.
Last Wednesday’s Members Stableford event saw John Dare score 38 pts to collect the A Grade voucher, from Jim Briggs 37 pts. In B Grade, Peter Friedlieb notched up 39 pts, one better than Owen Guthrie, while the NTP’s went to Peter Conlin, Bob Alexander and Eddie Wall, who nearly knocked the flag out on the long and tricky par three 18th . Ball comp to 35 pts c/b.
The boys returned for another stableford event on Saturday, when Max Horsnell showed that practice does in fact pay off when he scored 38 pots to win the A Grade event on a c/b from Matt Tooze, with Warren Lynch third with 37 pts. In B Grade, Kevin Rafter played well for 40 pts to get the better of Shane McPherson 38, and Mick Thorn 37 pts. Bruce Chalmers scored 38 pts to take care of C Grade, with Mick Landrigan runner-up with 36 pts on a c/b from playing partner, Rex Kember. NTP’s to Rowan Laurent, Max Horsnell and Peter Conlin. Ball comp to 33 pts on a c/b.
The scores were hot in Tim Barlow’s nine-hole Sunday Stableford event, with Sam Rodham scored 23 pts to win on a c/b from Darren Johnston, followed by Barry Miller 21, and Steve Rodham 20 pts. Ball comp to 19 pts.
ORIENTEERING
JULIE Gooding and Stuart Young had strong wins in the WaggaRoos Sprint Orienteering conducted in beautiful spring weather at the Victory Memorial Gardens last Sunday.
With two courses on offer being only 1600m and 1100m long speed was of the essence. However the zig-zag nature of sprint orienteering courses creates many changes in direction which with the lagoon and garden beds providing natural barriers to direct running meant competitors had to think carefully about the most efficient way to approach each target control site.
The challenge was increased with the control site markers were located in various nooks and crannies or in a way that competitors did not have a direct line of sight. Nonetheless most participants completed their course with minimal difficulty and several were enthused enough to do both courses.
Julie Gooding was fastest around the 1100m course finishing just over 2 minutes ahead of Rob McDougall. The Farquhar family finished third just ahead of Cameron and Lachlan Grainger.
On the 1600m course Stuart Young took the honours finishing almost 3 minutes ahead of Trent Seaman. John Oliver finished third and Ian McDougall finished fourth.
The final bush event for 2018 will commence at 10am in the Murraguldrie State Forest on Sunday 21 October. From Wagga Wagga drive towards Tumbarumba via Ladysmith or Gregadoo Rd. About 6km after passing over the Hume Highway turn right into Burngoogee Fire Track at the main Murraguldrie State Forest sign. Parking will be at the Vietnam Veterans retreat.
Results: 1100m Sprint Course: Julie Gooding 10.53; Rob McDougall 12.57; Farquhar family 13.28; Cameron & Lachlan Grainger 14.17; Ryder Seaman 17.16; Melanie Bradley & Alexander 18.11;
Logan Seaman 18.29; Jarrah & Eltan Mestan 23.42. 1600m Sprint Course: Stuart Young 12.29; Trent Seaman 15.18; John Oliver 15.39; Ian McDougall 17.42; Farquhar/Grainger group 20.31; Cameron Grainger 22.19; Wes Campbell 25.07; Sean Sunley 28.08.
