Teams from Temora, Griffith, Lavington, Junee, Henty and local Clubs filled both Greens for the annual challenge pairs tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The event was sponsored by Caltex with prizemoney of $2950. George Jackson and Eric Dixon of RSL took out first prize money of $1300 with 5 wins a draw plus 34 shots.
Second prizemoney of $700 went to Mick Connors and Ben Sharp with 5 wins plus 22 shots.
Third place and prize money of $400 was won by Keith Wellham and Bob Robertson with 5 wins plus 13 shots.
Fourth prize money of $200 was won by Paul Wilson and Brian Hughes with 5 wins plus 9 shots and Fifth prize money of $150 went to Gary Brookes and Dennis Rawlings with 4 wins plus 23 shots.
Best Day one card and $100 was won by Peter Thornton and Bill Manning 3 wins plus 28 shots and day 2 card went to Zac Gabrielsen and Nathan Kemp with 3 wins plus 22 shots.
This week’s Wednesday competition was sponsored by Hunters Newsagency, Doms Pizzas, Job Centre and Geoff Chambeyron Homes.
Winners were Bob Wright, John Ashcroft, Mille Knezevic 23 points; runners-up Ron Francis, Jack Cousley 22 points; 3rd place Max Simmons, John Hawke, Tiny Bower 21 points; 4th place Bob Robertson, John Stemp, Jim Davis 19 points.
Friday Nominated Pairs winners: Peter Reid, Henry Sperrin 25 points; runners-up Noel Comerford, Tiny Bower 23 points; 3rd place Andrew Carey, Bernie Benson 21 points. Bowlers are reminded that the AGM will be held in the Bowlers Lounge Sunday 23rd September at 10am. Nominations close 24th September for the Open Draw Club Triples, with first round to be played October 6. Nomination sheet on board for the Monthly Settlers Group 2 bowl Triples Tournament Monday, October 8, at 9am.

The vets who regularly put in to keep the course looking good deserve a real pat on the back. At the risk of missing a few names, well done to Tony Brunskill, Terry Baker, Russell Parr, Bob Hodge, colourful racing identity Peter Briggs, Eddie Wall, Tony Martin and Mick Thorne.
Last Monday’s Vets nine-hole stroke comp saw Kerry Smith extend his recent winning streak with a score of 33 nett to get home on a c/b from Don Kirwan.
A shot back were Ken Batt, Dave Sutton, Charlie Down and Bob Alexander, followed by Clarrie Ridley on 35 nett, then Terry Baker, Danny McIntyre, Russell Parr and Bob Martin on 36 nett.
Thursday’s event went to Dennis Stillman, 34 nett on a c/b from Len Jenkins, Danny McIntyre and Charlie Down, followed by Julie Yates, Peter Briggs, Grahame Winson, Russell Parr and Clarrie Ridley, each on 36 nett.
The ladies played a stroke event on Tuesday, and in Div 1, Gloria Vonarx scored 72 nett for a c/b win from Dee Harley.
Glad Leitch carded 68 nett to win Div 2 on a c/b from Sue Oakman, while in Div 3, Pat Grieve scored 70 nett to get the better of Janine Fitzgerald 71 nett.

The girls returned for a stableford event on Friday, and on a good day for scoring, Una Pocock took out Div 1 with 40 pts on a c/b from Carmel Pearce, while Janine Fitzgerald ran hot for 44pts to beat an unfortunate Glad Leitch, 41pts. NTP to Carol Martin.
Kerry Smith did it yet again on Wednesday when he scored 40 stableford pts to claim the A Grade event on a c/b from Grahame Winson and Roman Adamcewicz. In B Grade, Noel Barrington scored 41 pts for a win, from Eddie Wall 39, and John Mooney 37 pts. NTP’s to Peter Conlin, Peter McDonald and Maurie Hogan. Ball comp to 34 pts.
Strong winds greeted members when they turned up for Saturday’s Monthly Medal stroke event.
In A Grade, Josh Conlin played well in the conditions to score 70 net to win by a shot from Jim Briggs.
Kevin Rafter scored 71 nett to collect the B Grade voucher on a c/b from Geoff Hanns, while in C Grade, Ron Flanigan carded a solid 69 nett to beat Rowan Laurent 70 nett c/b. NTP’s to Bruce Masters, Kyle Harrison and Jim Briggs. Balls to 75 nett c/b.
Finally, Tim Barlow’s nine-hole Sunday Stableford event went to Rick Leonard with 23 pts, from Mark McIntyre 21 pts. Ball Comp to 19 pts.

The Wednesday Junior Doubles Tennis Competition continues today at the Bolton Park Tennis Complex.
The competition is open to all players that are able to serve.
To enter turn up at the courts before the start time of 4pm finish at 6pm sharp.
Sportsmans Warehouse Giftcards awarded at the end of the competition for those players playing five matches as well as a Best and Fairest award.
Leading the competition is Pat Wright on 29½ points with Alastair Wright on 28 points then Makenna Irlam on 19 points with Michael Paolucci-Ellis on 17 ½ points and Lucy Goodyer on 15 ½ points making up the top five positions.
This week’s McDonalds Sports Award went to Holly Versteeg and Michael Paolucci-Ellis.
The Saturday Singles competition is for players wanting more serious tournament play, with proper tie-breaker sets being played.
There is prize money for the top twenty players in the competition for all players having played five matches, as well as a best and fairest award at the end of the competition.
To take part, just turn up at the start time of 3pm until 5pm.
Leading the Singles competition after the first week is Oliver Plum on 9 ½ points followed by Caden Maxwell on 8 points, then Alastair Wright with Robert Grantham tied on 6 points and Pat Wright on 3 ½ points making up the top 5 positions.
This week’s Singles winners of the McDonalds Sports Award were Oliver Plum and Robert Grantham.
