The conference was officially opened by Mrs Gail Commens of Eurongilly, president South Pacitic area of the Associated Country Women of the World.

There were over 30 speakers on a wide range of topics such as women’s health alliance, equal rights alliance, telecommunications, royal flying doctor service, national farmers and many others.

At the business session two important motions were resolved – to ask that the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme be never privatised and also an urgency motion asking the governments to review the policy regarding eligibility for drought relief.

Outgoing national president Mrs Dorothy Coombe, Victoria, handed over the reins to Mrs Tanya Cameron, former state president CWA of NSW.
