On Friday, August 18, at the Narrandera Ex-Servicemen’s Club, the National Camellia Show will showcase 1000 of the best camellia blooms from around the region. Competitors “bench” (display) their camellias on Friday morning and then the show opens to the public that afternoon. Entry to this spectacular floral event is open on both Friday and Saturday. Entry is $5 per person.
On the same weekend, you’ll find Narrandera also playing host to the National Cavy Show, the premier event on the Australian guinea pig breeder calendar and the biggest event of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Held at the Narrandera Sports Stadium on Saturday, August 19, it is your chance to see the nation’s finest cavies and find out all about these animals from their enthusiastic owners. Entry is free, and more information is available at cavycouncil.org.au.
Narrandera’s Bike and Hike experience is a great way to see the town and its surrounding natural beauty. With three separate entry points to the trail, it’s your chance to explore the Narrandera township, wind through forests and wetlands, and walk or ride along the Murrumbidgee. Call into the Narrandera Visitor Information Centre for a map.
