Clarence Ridley took A Grade honours on Wednesday, scoring 39 points from Roman Adamcewicz, 38 points.

B Grade went to Michael Devries 38 points and Rex Kember second on 36 points on a countback. 35 points won a ball, Clarence Ridley, Mic Laurent and Tom McDonell won the NTPs.

Don Thorne won the Thursday Vets with 24 points from Ann Packer 21 points (good on you Ann). 16 points on a countback won a ball.

Again the rain gave us a limited field of golfers on Saturday but a few brave souls went out to play.

Ray Bell winning with 37 points, Michael Buckley came second 36 points and John Dare 35 points.

Balls to 30 points and John Dare winning the NTP.

Sunday 9 hole comp was won by John Hazell 21 points from David Weeden 19 pts c/b. Ball comp went to 17 points on countback.

Last Wednesday was the finals of the Junior Doubles Tennis Competition at the Bolton Park Tennis Complex.  

A new competition will commence 25th July.

The competition is open to all players that are able to serve. To enter turn up at the courts before the start time of 4.00pm finish at 6.00pm sharp.

Sportsmans Warehouse Giftcards awarded at the end of the competition for those players playing five matches as well as a Best and Fairest award.

Winner of the competition was Pat Wright on 56 points just ahead of brother Alastair Wright on 53 ½ points. Close behind was Makenna Irlam on 50½ points then Michael Ellis on 42½ points and Riley Wilson on 31 points making up the top five positions.

Best and Fairest Award went to Kelsey Atkinson.

A new Saturday Junior Tennis competition at Forest Hill will commence on 28th July.

The masters’ competition is for players wanting more serious tournament play, with proper tie-breaker sets being played.

There is prize money for the top twenty players in the competition for all players having played five matches, as well as a best and fairest award at the end of the competition.

To take part, just turn up at the start time of 3pm until 5pm.    

Winner of the masters’ competition is Oliver Plum on 54 points, second was Caden Maxwell on 29 points, followed by Robert Grantham on 17½ points with Lachlan McDonald on 14 points and Pat Wright on 12½ points making up the top 5 positions.

The junior tennis competition is open to all juniors wanting to play tennis in a friendly relaxed format, and is their first steps to playing competition.

All players should be able to serve to take part. There will be trophies to all players having played at least five matches.

As well there is a special best and fairest award presented at the end of the competition.

This competition starts at 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

Winning the junior tournament was Alastair Wright on 30 points second is Tory Grantham on 23½ points then Yassin El Sanabary on 9½ points.

Best and Fairest Awards went to Masters Oliver Plum and Junior Competition tied Alastair Wright and Tory Grantham.

This last week has been pretty quiet with only six heading out last Wednesday for a short ride to Temora. 

The course taken was out to Matong by way of the river road and then straight up to Ardlethan, however, they didn’t stop at Ardlethan and continued on to Temora, with a view to lunch at the Terminus Hotel. 

Having had lunch the group then shot straight back to Wagga signing off mid-afternoon.

Meet and Greet on Saturday was a pretty dull affair with only six braving the absolutely lousy day.

It had to be the most miserable day I have ever had to spend in Wagga, so needless to say we didn’t hang around. 

Our next ride is on this Sunday (17th) and has a mystery destination so arrive at Maccas in Edward Street at about 8.45am and while you are enjoying a nice coffee and something to eat someone in authority will decide where the ride will be going and coming.

The next Branch meeting will be held in the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street on Tuesday 19th Starting 7:30pm.

The doors open at 7pm so you can come a bit earlier and enjoy a chat and a cup of tea and after the meeting you can enjoy more chat and more tea along with a raffle and supper.

I can’t get over the fact that more and more Can Am Spyders are on the loose now, they seem to be selling a lot better than some of the bike models. 

Not my cup-of-tea but I guess if you are having difficulty holding a bike up then that is one way to solve the problem. 

And another brand now gathering a lot of attention are the Urals, the Russian “BMW’s” with sidecar. 

Quirky and different but gathering popularity.

Not a lot of activity is in the projections but that will ramp up with Spring and Summer looming. 

We have the annual toy run on December 1, and hopefully it won’t get washed out with great buckets of rain like last year. And on the February 25, 2019, the first-ever Ulysses Club Rally will take place on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. 

At that time of the year it should be nice and warm.

After the rain on Saturday morning conditions looked pretty still at Lockhart range. But there was something going on that reflected in the flags. And as the afternoon darkened we lost sight of which way the mirage was running. 

Most shooters left the mound shaking their heads. Though the movements were small they often cost points. 

But hey, if 600 Yards was meant to be easy we wouldn’t be doing it.  It is not a shooting gallery after all!

The shoot was our monthly trophy shoot and this was won by Scott. Numbers were low due to the long weekend.

The fire was lit again after the shoot as the light and temperature dropped.

Next weekend will be 700 Yards.

Zac Gabrielsen, the 2018 Singles Champion continued his great championship form in teaming with Christian Morgan to win the final of the Major Pairs Championship in comprehensible fashion against Pedro Rudd and John Hetherington 28 shots to 11. With scores 7 all after 7 ends, Zac and Christian took full control of the match to run out easy winners. In the quarterfinals Christian Morgan, Zac Gabrielsen def Rob Marshall, Dane Bland 16/9; Pedro Rudd, John Hetherington def Kevin Cheney, Ken Chalker 23/14.                                                                                                     

Monday’s monthly two bowl blind draw triples tournament, sponsored by The Settlers Group, saw Brian Lawrence, Wayne Smithers, Norm King take first prize money of $210 with 3 wins plus 21 shots up. Second place prize money of $120 was won by Paul Fenwick, Bernie Benson and Alan Jacobson also three wins plus 21 shots and 3rd prizemoney of $90 was won by Chris Leonard, Trevor Urquhart, and Mile Knezevic – 3 wins plus 17 shots.

Wednesday blind draw winners: Alan Jacobson, Rod Roy, Kerry Delaney 23 points; runners-up Mark Pearce, Darren Kelly, Barry Ingram 20 points; 3rd place Geoff Rainbird, Wayne Smithers, Mile Knezevic 19 points. Nominations for the Minor Pairs Championship close on July 2, with first round to be played on the 14th July. Nomination sheet on Board for the Annual Knights Meats Versatility 5s Tournament, Sunday 24th June, with prize money of $1750. Format is Fours, Triples and Pairs 21 ends and Singles to 31 shots up with the first 14 Teams entered going into the draw.
