The conference was opened by NSW Governor David Hurley, accompanied by Linda Hurley. Guest speakers included deputy premier John Barilaro and his parliamentary secretary, Bronnie Taylor.
More than 20 motions were debated, as well as an urgency motion calling for governments to implement compulsory water metering of all users within the Murray-Darling basin.
Wagga Evening Branch were successful with their motion asking the federal health minister to make it compulsory for all medical surgeries to have automatic refunding for their patients.
In the land cookery, Lyn Jacobsen of Pleasant Hills branch won first prize for her moist cocoanut cake. Carolyn Hatherley (Wagga Evening Branch) was highly commended for her rhubarb and ginger jam. Oura first prize for their international book on Nepal. Jane Lieschke (Galore) was second in the recycled state completion. Henty’s June Bahr was first in China painting and junior member Annie Singe won painting.
Next year’s conference will be in Albury.
