Each week, the council will deliver a table and two benches to the Men’s Shed, where they will be cleaned, sanded, and varnished.
Men’s Shed president Peter Quinane said the project should take about three months.
“We're sanding them on four sides, re-coating them on four sides, and we'll probably give them three coats of oil before we put them back together again,” he said.
“It's a big project – we get probably six to seven guys to start at 7am, we work until 12pm every day, and then we have to have a SCAN in the afternoon – that’s a senior citizens afternoon nap.”
Mr Quinane said that projects like this are a lot of fun for his team.
"Anyone that wants to have a go is quite welcome to come and have a go,” he said.
“We've got all sorts of guys working on this – one's an old school teacher, one's an old electrician, one bloke's an old farmer, and one's an old carpenter.”
The men’s shed has about 135 members and averages about 30 pairs of hands each and every day.
