A share of $17 million funding has been earmarked to improve boat access and stabilisation, according to Wagga’s MP.
It comes after Daryl Maguire on Monday announced $83,835 would go towards improving 150 metres of foreshore at Lake Albert, providing provide boating friendly tie-up areas away from the boat ramp.
The money was provided as part of the state government’s Boating Now program, according to Mr Maguire.
He said the Lake Albert project was earmarked for completion before the end of 2019, ultimately making water activities safer, easily accessible and more enjoyable.
It comes on the back of issues regarding contamination at the site, with blue-green algae making the lake unsafe to swim. While various groups are seeking solutions, Mr Maguire said without flowing water, it would always be a problem.
“Pray for rain,” Mr Maguire said.
