THE Narrandera Hospital Auxiliary, fundraisers extraordinaire, recently presented Narrandera Hospital with donations for a fully hydraulic shower chair ($6000) and two electronic lift chairs ($6000). Added to this was over $21,000 in government funding, spent on a movement detection system incorporated into the nurse call bell to decrease patient falls ($13,000) and an external chest compression device ($8000).

The fully adjustable shower chair will be used to prevent pressure injuries for patients and heavy lifting for staff; and the comfortable electronic chairs are equipped to assist patients, to a standing position if required.

A MIND, Body and Soul Festival, organised for Narrandera by Nicole Rowley with 100 per cent of the door proceeds (adults $5) going to Can Assist, will be held at Narrandera Ex-servicemen’s Club next weekend.
There will be psychic readers, mediums, healers, iridologists, Indian head masseuses, and stalls.

SOCIAL Inclusion Week, commenced by the School of Hard Knocks in 2009, is aimed at people in the 12-25 years age bracket. This year’s theme? Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate.
“The jobless families with children, disadvantaged Australians, people with a disability or mental illness, people who are homeless, the elderly and Indigenous Australians” were invited along to Marie Bashir Park on Friday, November 3. Everything was laid on for their enjoyment.
Due to heavy morning rain, a cooler day and competing sporting commitments in the afternoon, attendance was down on expectations but organisers recognised potential for a celebration day of social inclusion as an annual drawcard for Narrandera’s wider community.
Congratulations to the organisers who did a marvellous job.
