There wasn’t an awkward conversation in the room with each well-versed lady mingling under the observation of judges at the Commercial Club cocktail party before a sit-down dinner and formal interviews.
Last year’s winner Emma Gorman said it’s great to see six entrants following efforts to boost youth involvement in the show society.
“They’re a really great group of girls with vastly different passions,” Ms Gorman said.
“All are studying different things from veterinary science to agriculture.”
The evening marked the last formal event of the competition.
However, Ms Gorman says once you’ve been bitten by the show bug, you never go back.
“Last year all of our entrants became involved in the next generation sub-committee,” she said.
The new committee is dedicated to amplifying the youth voice in the show society.
This year they’ve organised an agriculture education day for high school students, more entertainment and young farmers events for the September show.
The winner will be announced at the show on Friday, September 8.
