She was the first woman to hold the office of town clerk within a NSW council when she was appointed at Balranald Municipality in 1944.
She was integral in the establishment of the Western Shires Dental Service, the library and the development of the rural road network.
Ms Male worked at the Town Clerks Society and Institute of Municipal Management from 1974 to 1988.
Balranald Shire Council’s new office extension was named in Ms Male’s honour in 2009.
Ms Male has travelled extensively, including attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace and a trip to Spain in her early 90s.
The residents at Watermark, where Ms Male now calls home, held a morning tea for her 100th birthday on Wednesday and she was “overcome” with joy at the attendance.
Ms Male has achieved her dream of retiring by the Murrumbidgee River in Wagga and will celebrate with family and friends this Saturday.
