Colour run paints smiles at Ashmont Public

Water and chalk turned a simple Wagga oval into a magical battle-field of colour on Friday afternoon.

Asmont Primary School students’ smiles were wide as they wove, ducked, hopped and jumped across obstacles at Jack Misson Oval for a special Colour Run fundraiser.

The only complaint one student made was due to having a “wet butt”.

But when you have permission to mess your clothes with paint at school, there are not many who would complain.

Parents and Citizens president Nikola Kinder said the obstacle course was a smaller simulation of Kapooka’s, which recruits and a section commander had kindly set up for the day.

“All the money raised goes towards items for the school,” Ms Kinder said. “It’s for a good cause and it’s a lot of fun for the kids … they’ve been really excited for it.”

Ms Kinder said anecdotally the event had raised thousands. She said a visit from firefighters and police had made the day extra special.
