ULYSSES
OSCAR and Thomo were two contenders for a jaunt last Wednesday and I think they headed out Narrandera/Leeton way. It was a great day weather wise and after a lousy Winter we are now experiencing some terrific riding weather. So the message is – get those machines out of the shed and “come fly with me”.

The branch meeting last week was very disappointing with only a handful of regulars in attendance. Looks like we may have to stage the “dancing girls” to get people interested. Our next branch meeting is on November 21 at the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street.
Saturday Meet and Greet was also way down on numbers but those who did front up enjoyed a nice coffee, a chat, and some sunshine.
There was no ride scheduled for Sunday but I do know quite a few small groups headed off into the wild blue yonder for the day. Our next ride is this coming Sunday and will only be a short stint to The Rock-Culcairn- Morven-Mangoplah and then home. Be careful at Morven if travelling on the Coach Road, they have reduced the speed limit from 80 down to 50. On November 19 the committee is considering a trip down to Bombala to the annual Bike Fest but more about that later, it would be an overnighter. November 25, the local branch we be holding its Christmas Party at the Charles Sturt Roundabout Restaurant and for further information please phone Lorraine on 0428 312 336.
The Toy Run Committee will be holding a fundraiser at the Kooringal Mall this Saturday from 9am until about 1pm so if you have any loose change come and drop it in the bucket. They will also be doing the bucket brigade at the Baylis Street entrance to the Marketplace on November 18 from 9am until 1pm.
And, of course, the Toy Run is on December 2, starting from the Jubilee Oval and after traversing most of Wagga and Forest Hill (90kms) finishes at the Civic Centre at about 12.15pm. There will be activities for the kids, raffles, barbecues and drinks at the finish for a family fun time, and we hand over all the toys we have collected and purchased to the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul for distribution.

We'll keep you updated as we make progress towards getting functional moving backers installed. On Sunday we held a Rimfire Group competition which involves three targets shot at 50yd, and two at 100yd. One of our most promising junior shooters Lilly Reed beat the entire field to claim first place with an aggregate group of 0.537 Well done Lilly! Doug Emery got home on a c/b from Col Smith to take care of B Grade, while the NTP’s went to Andrew White, Peter Lyons and Col Smith. Without a doubt though, the highlight of the day was Barney’s 100 metre sprint to the 18th green, after doing his very own version of the ‘brown snake shuffle’ around a little wriggler, about 60 metres from the tee.
Saturday provided no such entertainment, but the conditions were still terrific. In A Grade, tennis guru, Roman Adamcewicz scored 35 stableford pts to win on a c/b from Bob Alexander, while Billy Whalan fired up for 43 pts to win B Grade from Col Smith. Maurie Hogan also played well for 40 pts to collect in C Grade, from Frank Veliscek on a c/b. NTP’s to Phil Harrison, Bob McKenzie and Kyle Harrison.

FOUR of WWSC finest traveled to Griffith Sailing Club to compete in the GSC Philip Johns Memorial Regatta, October 14 and 15. Three catamarans (two x Paper Tigers, one x Taipan 4.9) and a classic and very beautiful Hartley TS16.
It was a fine weekend with good winds, better than at home, with a fleet of 12 multihulls and four monohulls racing. Five races over the two days.
The three WWSC catamarans made a clean sweep of the multihull Division with Greg Williams' Paper Tiger Shadow Boxer in first place, Brad Pearce's Taipan 4.9 Cadmium in second and Garry Williams' Paper Tiger Characin IV in third. Greg Williams was also second overall for the regatta.
