An anti-council merger group claims more than 90 per cent of residents wants the controversial changes reversed.

Save Tumbarumba Shire (STS) conducted a straw poll during last weekend’s council elections, asking if the state government should restore the old council. Of 1207 voters polled, 93 per cent wanted Tumbarumba Shire Council restored.

Lucy Henderson from STS said the government “must immediately admit the absurdity of their situation or face the wrath of voters”.
