The weather pulled out the goods today as 1300 runners and riders hit the streets of Wagga, running 10 kilometers in the glorious sunshine.

Jhie Hammond jogged past his dad Michael in their first Lake Run and Ride, finishing in 271 and 301th place respectively.

“It’s something to get off the couch and do together as father and son,” Michael said.

Michael’s usually into weights and it was his and Jhai’s first foray into running.

The pair traveled from Leeton and said they’ll be back next year.

Caleb Noble was the first fellow across the line, finishing the run in 32 minutes and 21 seconds.

Hamish Hart and Jared Kahlefeldt followed to make second and third.

The winning woman, Rachel Glasson wasn’t far behind at just over 39 minutes followed by Hannah Billet and Liz Stephens.

Lake Run and Ride secretary Phil Roy said the committee were wrapped with the turnout and phenomenal weather.

“We’re thrilled to have the band from Kapooka providing such a great atmosphere,” Mr Roy said.

“It’s fantastic to see hundreds of people out participating and being active.”

The annual event has been running since 1972.
