Ulysses
YOU would think that spring and nice weather would go hand in hand but, no, last Wednesday and six days into spring the winter weather was still with us so no ride eventuated that day.
From all reports the Jerilderie weekend was enjoyed by all who made the grade. Meet and Greet on Friday night was most enjoyable with each person supplying their own meat and our wonderful girls who specialise in the catering side of things provided the side dishes and salads etc.
On Saturday morning some went exploring the relics and historic places of the town while one or two rode over to Deniliquin to check out a truck show there. The rest of Saturday was taken up with exploring, lunches, and cups of coffee with the day being capped by a great dinner at a The Colony Motor Inn. On Sunday everyone arose to a sumptuous breakfast of bacon and eggs followed by some hot coffee before packing up for the ride home. Another good trip away.
Up coming events are a short local ride taking in Uranquinty, the crossroads and Currawarna on September 17. On September 28 and 29 the Toy Run Committee have got the Bunnings’ barbecue and are looking for helpers on each day. If you can help please give Pat a call on 0408 420 766.
On October 1 we are having a run to Rutherglen and this may turn into an over-nighter depending on interest.
On October 7 The 2017 Toy Run Launch will take place at Thomas Bros from 9am until 1pm. Come and enjoy a sausage sandwich and bring you bike all shined up. And on the 15th it will be The Pink Ribbon Ride, more later.
Just a reminder that all weekend rides leave McDonalds car park, in Edward Street, at 9am and Wednesday rides leave Billy’s Café at 9am. Meet and Greet is conducted at Billy’s on Saturday mornings from 10am. If you are not a member of the Ulysses Club and would like to join us on a ride, you are most welcome.

IN MILITARY rifle on Sunday, as usual the 300m target spelt disaster for several normally top performers. Not so for David Wad,e and John Buik; from a possible 50 on the 300 target David shot 39 and John 33 to lift them into first and second overall. Greg Blake’s 23 was good enough to score third overall. David’s win follows on his purple patch the Sunday before when he equalled the long standing rimfire silhouette club record of twenty-seven down.
Saturday, September 16 is black powder from 1.30pm and Sunday, September 17 is centrefire 100y group from 10am.
It is time to produce the 2018 club competition program, so if you have any suggestions for change please let Don know.

The wind was predominantly from the left but changing in intensity and direction rapidly.
Sometimes flicking to come from the right catching the unwary if they were not careful.
John Dixon and Graham Crowe seemed to handle it the best but it was Paul Golden who shot quickly and well to win the trophy on handicap.
Next weekend will be a practice shoot.
