New Kids Aces will take on Shooting Stars in the feature match, while Turvey Park will face the challenge of playing the competition leaders, Uranquinty.

Strangely enough, both New Kids Aces and Shooting Stars are coming off last-start losses, while Uranquinty and Turvey Park both won their last matches.

New Kids Aces, as has been well chronicled, are a good mix of youth and experience, and should have too many class players for the young Shooting Stars team.

Flynn Hogg and Lisa Frow, the Aces’ shooters, will be hard to contain, despite the best efforts of Maddie McIntyre and Frances Heffernan.

As handy as she has proven to be up forward, Jemima Norbury could well be sent to defence to try and cut off the ball supply to the Aces’ gaolers.

Bridget Dill and Amanda Jaques are playing well in the centre third, but will have to be at their best to combat the likes of Abbey Corbett, Mikaela Cole and the evergreen Rachael Addison.

At the defensive end for the Aces, Lisa Reynoldson, Tracey Schulz-Cole and Rhiannon Podmore, if fit, are arguably the best in the competition and have what it takes to thwart the scoring opportunities of Kate Caller and Norbury.

Aces have won the two previous matches between the two and should make it a hat trick on Saturday.

In the other match, top team, Uranquinty will meet the improving Turvey Park.

This will be a real test of just how much better Turvey Park is. Perhaps that won’t be truly revealed as Turvey will be without several key players this Saturday.

Nevertheless, the replacements should rise to the challenge and Turvey, buoyed by last Saturday’s win, will be keen to keep the momentum going.

The young but skilful Uranquinty team is looking to go one better than last season and will be eager to finish with two wins in the next two rounds to finish undefeated minor premiers.

They’ll go into their penultimate competition match as deserved favourites, but will be wise not to take Turvey too lightly.
