CULCAIRN: From a misty rain start, the day turned out a good day for golf – the rain stopped and it was a pleasant temperature. The 2 Person Ambrose Tournament is sponsored by Lodges Bus Service of Culcairn and a field of 57 golfers played with 20 Men’s pairs and 8 Mixed pairs. The play flowed pretty well until a golf stick ended up in an old dead tree. It seems it took a few minutes to retrieve it from there!
Brad and Dallas Lodge won back to back events, having taken the trophy last year, and on Saturday won the Men’s 2 Person Ambrose again with a scratch score of 69, net 62.75. Runners up were Adam Makeham and Cameron Furze with 70/63.75. Interesting that all four golfers learnt the game at Culcairn, while living now in Albury. Good to have them back on home soil! Both pairs played off the same handicap, with Lodges just one shot better at the end of the day.
Winners of the Mixed 2 Person Ambrose were Stuart and Heather Lowe (Culcairn) with a scratch score of 77, net 64. Runners up were Henk van der Ven and Glenda Hoskins (Howlong members) who played a great game with scratch 68, net 64.75.
