The free event will explore the life of wildly esoteric painters, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Ushio Shinohara in 1970’s and 80’s downtown New York.
The gallery have been wanting to do a film project “for some time,” exhibitions and collections curator Drew Halyday said.
“We wanted to fill a niche in Wagga,” he said. “So people can come down and watch independent and experimental cult films.
“(The cinema) is inside and it’s a big section of the art gallery that gets transformed.
“We use lounge chairs and everyone is seated in a big lounge area.”
Jackdaw Film Series will present The Radiant Child about Basquait while Cutie and the Boxer explores Ushio Shinohara’s life in 1969 as a rising art star.
It is the second year the event has been held, according to Mr Halyday, and there are usually four of the events on per year.
“Tickets are three quarters sold,” he said.
“We have only 25 left.”
Head to the The Jackdaw Film Series website to secure your seat at the cinema.
