Martin Gregory told councillors the VRA wanted a new four-wheel drive, similar to an Isuzu D-Max, to better respond to car crashes.
“If we’re responding to an accident on the Hume Highway and another one occurs near Collingullie, we won’t have all our resources in one area,” Mr Gregory said.
“Our rescue truck drivers need a truck license and it can be tough to find someone to drive it… this would free up a lot more members.”
Councillor Conkey said he was “embarrassed” that the VRA had to sell raffle tickets and sausages at Bunnings to make ends meet, “given the vital service they provide.”
