Independent, active and full of energy, Rebecca Collie’s life was torn asunder when a quad bike accident on her family’s property in Coleambally last April severed her spinal chord.

Leaving her paralysed from the belly-button down, Ms Collie has spent months in hospital in Melbourne.
She’s since been released and now faces 46 months in rehab.
“It’s really hard for her to be positive,” her sister, Sarah Kisela said.
“The life she knew has gone.”
Ms Collie’s family have been uprooted by the tragedy, with her parents now in Melbourne to assist with her ongoing care. Her mortgage, house, car and cost of ongoing care are dark clouds hanging over her recovery.
After the accident, a bank account for donations from the community was set up.
On Saturday from 11am the family are holding a barbecue at The Good Guys Wagga with all money raised used to fund Ms Collie’s care.
Her sister said the support from the community, especially those at Coleambally, had been wonderful.
