Wagga mayor Greg Conkey and council lawyer Adrian Barwick spoke to the media about the sacking of general manager Alan Eldridge on Tuesday morning.
The pair would not answer questions on whether Mr Eldridge had been on full pay while he was suspended or how much the termination would cost ratepayers.
However, Mr Barwick indicated any wages Mr Eldridge was receiving were also terminated on Monday night.
Cr Conkey said he had met with staff before the media briefing to discuss the situation.
Robert Knight continues as general manager pending recruitment of a replacement for Mr Eldridge.
More to come.
