WAGGA SSAA
THE prediction of a wet weekend no doubt accounted for the low numbers for the Barry Duncan. In light bench it was Paul Deehan who at 100 shot three twos, a one and a three for an agg of 0.2498, a winning result in any company.

At 200 one got away from him for a two inch group on the A target but he recovered with four very good groups to finish with a minute of angle agg of 0.3566.
His grand agg (100 and 200) of 0.3032 was good for first place; followed by Barry Wild (0.3277). Third place went to Tracy Deehan with 0.3437.
Tracy is a lady to watch as this was her first ever short range match. A win in light gun at the March fly and now a third in her first group match I can only wonder what the future holds.
In heavy bench it was Barry Wild from John Butts, with Barry taking the two gun to win the Barry Duncan for 2017.
Saturday, May 27 is black powder from 1.30pm and Sunday, May 28 is rimfire 50y group from 10am. For more info ssaawagga.org.au or Don on 6926 3757.

EXPLORERS RIFLE CLUB
RIVERINA DRA 2017 PRIZE SHOOT Sunday, May 21
A GREAT day in the sun was a little slow coming as the programmed start time had to be put off until the fog lifted in Cootamundra. With little to no wind the stubborn fog just did not want to go away so it was 11am before the first shots were fired. Unfortunately numbers were down on previous years but it was a great opportunity to catch up as shooters swapped yarns tall and true during the long delay.
This also meant a late finish in order so to minimise time lost officials decided not to move back to 600 and so three 500 yard matches were on menu with the last being a 15-shot match.
Some very good scores were recorded but no one managed the magic three range possible.
Explorer’s members figured prominently in the final wrap with four members coming home with trophies. In target rifle Scott Brindley and Dave Xuereb had to shoot off for honours with Dave coming out on top by a mere centre.
This also was a tad inconvenient with presentation further delayed as Scott being the new DRA secretary and Dave in charge of the treasury.
In B grade P Simons was the winner and F Class again the domain of the Bradley’s with Darren getting the win after a close fought finish with Graham Crowe in FA.
And Jacinta in B grade again a point in front of Dad a clear winner in FB.
There is just no stopping this girl with huge wins in each of the last three weekends.
F Open was Ben Goodwin’s first major win and again a close result from Brett Bond and three other’s also only one point down and positions decided on the x count. Thanks to Cootamundra club and all that assisted to make this meeting a success. As one wise scribe stated during the presentation “even if the scores were no good it was worth coming just for the meal the ladies dished up”.
Lockhart Saturday, May 20
SATURDAY’S shoot was at 300 Yards and only a few attending due to the Riverina prize meeting in Cootamundra the next day.
However for those that attended it was a beautiful sunny afternoon for shooting with only a very light breeze.
The Electronic Target was given a quick service before the shoot and performed faultlessly all afternoon – take note Rob and David!
Wayne Grentell had a great shoot and was consistent across both stages to achieve the best score for the day.
After the shoot we adjourned to the Soldiers Club where Scott Brindley was awarded the NSWRA Medal for Club Champion in 2016.
Next weekend will be a 900 Yard shoot to make up for one we missed previously.
Results as follows: Target Rifle Scott Brindley-A-143.8(Out of 150). F Class Wayne Grentell-FS-171.11, Graham Crowe-FS-169.4, John Smoothy-FS-158.8.
