Its testament to the level of commitment these clubs put into their respective junior development programs which sees them facing off in the three junior premiership deciders.
It’s shaping as a massive day for the Turvey Park Softball Club with six teams contesting six grand finals, starting with the tee-ball division and finishing with the senior A grade women.
In the junior tee-ball final Turvey Park Red are up against Saints Knights. When these two teams meet two weeks ago, in the major semi-final, Turvey Park caused a massive upset downing the Saints Knights. However, Saints Knights managed to turn things around in the preliminary final with a convincing win over club mates Saints Dragons. The Saints team will look to young guns Ava Weir, Indi Byrnes and Kaylah Clarke to lead the way while for Turvey Park Samuel Pike, Alex Livio and Harry Wheatley will ensure a close contest.
A classic modball grand final is expected when the star-studded Tuvey Park Yellow team takes on the ever-improving Saints Dragons. Nothing has separated these teams this season and another close encounter is assured. Saints will go into the final the slightest of favourites due to a narrow victory in the preliminary final, however the Turvey Park team is stacked full of game winners. Brayden O’Reilly has been a consistent lead-off batter this season while Crawford Wadley and Austin Gooden are both extremely powerful pitchers. The Saints’ Callum Byrnes, Coby Bourke and Lachlan Dicker have been in fine form, however they will need contributions from every player if they are to claim the title.
Turvey Park Red have batted their way into the girls under 15 grand final with an upset win over Turvey Park Blue. Going into the game without star pitcher Mackaylee Little, who was away on NSW Country representative duties, the Turvey Park Blue team struggled to contain an enthusiastic and spirited Turvey Park Red team eventually losing 14 -4.
Turvey Park Red will meet Saints Dragons in the Under 15s grand final. The Dragons head into the clash hot favourites with NSW Country players Bella Hofert and Pam Calder returning for club duties.
In the Under 15 boys grand final Turvey Park Yellow take on Saints Knights. On paper Turvey Park looks to have the stronger, more experienced line up and head into the season decider clear favourites. However Saints coach Simon Jamieson, has been working on the team’s defensive structures so an upset is not out of the question.
Announcement and presentation of medals to All Star team members will be made at 12.25pm following the presenting of winners and runners-up medallions.
