The defence of the Shield was set up in the first two innings when Kooringal scored four runs in their first turn at bat and five in their second dig, after shutting out the young Mater Dei team in each of their two opening innings.
Kooringal High pitcher, Tessa McGlynn, not only did well in the field, combining with Kalee Gibbons for 7 K-2s, but also had four left-field hits which scored runs on each occasion.
Others to have safe hits for the winners were Georgina Carter (two), Gibbons (two), Desi Calder, Anneka Piercy and Jess Oehm.
Mater Dei pitcher, Paris Hall, celebrated her selection in the NSW Combined Catholic Schools team earlier in the week, with a good performance, pitching 4K-2s to sister, Charli, and having a safe hit.
The only other Mater Dei batters to hit safely were Charli Hall and Brandy Nicholson.
Wagga High had an easy win over Mt Austin to claim third position in the competition.
