Riverina’s ever-increasing presence at the AFL Draft strengthened on Friday night as Perryman, Henty’s Harrison Macreadie and former Wagga boy Elliot Himmelberg all found homes at AFL clubs.

Perryman will join former Collingullie team mate Matt Kennedy at Greater Western Sydney (GWS) after the Giants selected the 17-year-old with pick 14.

They matched a bid from Adelaide to secure Perryman’s service.

Macreadie will head to Carlton after the Blues swooped on the Henty defender with selection 47, while Himmelberg went to Adelaide at pick number 51.

Perryman attended the draft with his parents Max and Liz and was thrilled to see his AFL dream come to life.

“It’s pretty exciting to know I’m finally at a club,” Perryman said.

“I’m like every other kid, I’ve been wanting to do this all my life so it’s great that it’s finally here.”

Perryman was happy to end up at the Giants, a club he already knows plenty about.

“I know a fair few blokes there, it seems like a great club so I can’t wait,” he said.

Amid the drama and excitement of AFL Draft night, Perryman was still thinking of his brothers and former teammates at Collingullie.

“I’m sure all of the Gullie boys are absolutely loving it,” he said.

Meantime, Macreadie, a Carlton supporter, was a little surprised but extremely delighted to go to the Blues.

“I’m over the moon, it’s a dream come true, to be honest,” Macreadie said.

“It’s unreal, I’m going to the club I’ve supported. I couldn’t be happier.

“It’s been a great night and this just tops it off.”
