Eddie Wall took it to a new level on Thursday when he cleaned up by five shots with 22 nett, way ahead of Les Hodges 27, Russell Parr 28, and Bill O’Rourke 29 nett.
The ladies played a stableford event on Tuesday, and in Division 1, Doreen Hazell totalled 32 pts for a win from Marg O’Rourke 29 pts. Marg Hogan scored 29 pts to collect the Division 2 voucher on a c/b from Fay Baker, while the NTP’s went to Jo Williams, Sue Oakman and Janene Fitzgerald.
The girls returned for a stroke event on Friday, and it was good to see Gloria Vonarx back in the winner’s circle with a nett 75, two shots ahead of Marg Hogan. NTP’s to Jan Marks, Sue Matthews and the in-form Marg Hogan.
Wednesday’s stableford saw Roger Taylor score 36 pts to win the A Grade event, from Grahame Winson 35 and Peter Conlin 34 pts, while B Grade went to Ray Harrison with 34 pts on a c/b from John Mooney, with Brodie Moore third with 33 pts. Ulysses
Three riders went up to Tumut last Wednesday and then continued on to Talbingo where they had lunch.
With lunch over they all went back to Tumut and took the Gocup Road back to Gundagai. From there they motored back through Nangus and Wantabadgery, where Woody peeled off and headed home to Temora.
The rest of the crew continued on back to Wagga after another great day in good weather.
On Saturday meet and greet was well attended.
Two members of the Toy Run Committee sold some raffle tickets outside Toys Are Us on Saturday morning and managed to sell a good number.
Sunday saw the Pink ribbon ride leave from McDonalds car park with 26 bikes and one enclosed Quad bike transporting 31 persons on the first leg to Jugiong.
At Jugiong a table was laid out in the picnic area and morning tea was dispensed. Pink tablecloth, pink cakes, pink tea, pink coffee and, in fact, pink everything.
When the morning tea was consumed the happy throng headed over to Temora by way of Cootamundra and set up camp at Lake Centenary for a BBQ lunch. Whilst at Jugiong a couple from Sydney riding a Can Am Spider tagged along for the ride with our group. Unfortunately during lunch the wind wound up to an uncomfortable level so the group went straight home rather than going through Bethungra which was originally planned. However, all concerned had an enjoyable day out and raised over $300 for Breast Cancer Research.
Recently Don Pembleton went on the annual Postie Bike Challenge, which was held in Western Australia this year. The ride started at the Cannington Exhibition Centre (Perth) at 7am on Sunday 4th September where they set out for the village of Hyden (323 KM). After a tour of Wave Rock, the group were fed and housed by the local Scout group.
Nine days later after traversing some of Western Australia’s most challenging roads they all arrived at Broome where they were met by local dignitaries at the Rotary welcome and handed over the bikes they rode to Charity. From Perth they travelled to Broome via an inland, little-known route totalling 3,330 KMs.
The Challenge has been run every year since 2002 and sees between 30 and 50 riders from many parts of the world participate in a fun charity ride. It is well organised and provides opportunities to share stories with riders from all walks of like and all riding competencies. It is believed that planning for the 2017 event is in hand and it is recommended that all interested participants seek details through the website: http://www.postiebikechallenge.org/
Last night our October branch Meeting was held with a fairly good attendance and our next ride is on November 6th to Walwa. Each Wednesday rides leave from Billy’s Café at 9:00am after a short planning session over a cup of coffee. Meet and Greet is on Saturday mornings from 10:00am at Billy’s.
