WAGGA SSAA
The range is now open as normal except the car park is very boggy so users will need to park at the gate. Sunday’s rimfire field was shot in windy conditions but these were no handicap for Gavin Power who took the event with 330.4, followed by Carlo Zuliani on 320 with Wayne James in third. Conditions were even more sporting by the time rimfire silhouette began but Wayne James did not care knocking an impressive fifteen. Second was a three-way tie on ten between Rob Cheetham, Gavin Power and Carlo Zuliani. Saturday is black powder from 1.30pm, and Sunday 200y centrefire score from 10am. The 300m night fly is on again this year; November 11 and 25, December 9, January 13, custom and factory classes. For info ring Don. Five riders took off last Wednesday, got as far as Culcairn and couldn’t resist the temptation to throw down a coffee at the Bakery. They then meandered across to Howlong to another bakery, this time for lunch. The big cost of these rides is not fuel but the nourishment. After lunch the riders traversed the little townships on the way back to Gerogery and from there enjoyed terrific riding conditions back to Wagga.
On Saturday there was a good roll up for Meet and Greet and the Toy Run Committee had a fundraiser at Kooringal Mall. They also sold tickets for the Toy Run raffle. First prize is a 125cc Atomic off-road bike complete with helmet and gloves, second prize is a Zeigler and Brown twin grill barbecue and third prize is a Black Max air compressor. The next ride is the Pink Ribbon ride, leaving McDonalds Edward St Car Park at 9am on Sunday. The $10 cost goes towards Breast Cancer research. For info call Jackie Starr on 0413 305 753 or 6924 1772. Remember, Meet and Greet at Billy’s Café from 10am on Saturdays. Wednesday rides from Billy’s at 9am and Sunday Rides from McDonalds Car Park at 9am when scheduled.

Explorers Rifle Club
A good roll up on Saturday considering the road closures for floods. The wind was strong and changing direction and intensity so all struggled other than John Goodwin who posted two great scores to win the McDonald Cup.
Welcome to Matt Judd, our new member who has caught the bug after having a couple of goes and is showing promise. We also received a visitor who indicated interest in joining our growing club. Thanks to Dave who is making sure our targets are in pristine condition despite our members insisting on firing tight groups in the middle and making a mess of his work!
Next weekend a working bee is planned, weather permitting. Members assistance with mowers, whipper snippers and spray guns will be required from 9.30am Saturday.
Results from Lockhart as follows: Target Rifle David Xuereb-A=91.7, Jeremy Westblade-B-93.5, Matt Judd-C-51. F Class John Goodwin-FO-115.9, Ben Goodwin-FO-112.4, Graham Crowe-FS-108.3, Rob Jeffery-FO-107.3, John Dixon-FS-80. Optical Phil Bain – 99.14.
Next week we will shoot 900 Yards.
WAGGA CITY GOLF CLUB
Last Thursday’s Vets Stableford saw John Burkinshaw make light work of the tough conditions as he sizzled around the front nine holes fourteen shots under his handicap for 32 pts, three clear of his playing partner, Eddie Wall, who also ran hot for 29. Bob Moore accumulated 27 for third place. Others who went well on the day were Barry Longmore 25, and Bob Hodge 23.
With the back nine drying out, members played the front nine twice in Wednesday’s Stableford. Mick de Vries and Peter Friedlieb warmed up for next week’s Murray River Golf Tour with scores of 33 and 32 pts respectively, while Mark McIntyre came third with 31 on a c/b. NTP to Warren Lynch. Ball comp to 26 pts. Shot of the day went to Steve Hall, who smashed his drive fifty metres down the middle of the par four 7th. The kangaroo whose backside stopped the ball in full flight just blinked, and hopped away. It seems Steve’s reputation as the club’s most powerful ball-striker suffered more of a dent than the kangaroo did!
The back nine had recovered well for Saturday’s members Stableford event, and good scores were easier to come by. In A Grade, Nigel Hazell scored 37 pts for a win, from Tony Merrigan 35 pts. Eugene Shannon scored 34 pts to take care of the B Grade event, with Matt McMullen runner-up on a c/b with 33 pts. Ray Barnett carded 37 pts for success in C Grade, a point better than the consistent Eddie Wall. NTP’s to Mick Laurent, Peter Conlin and Dave McGrath. Ball comp to 32 pts.
Sunday’s nine-hole Stableford comp rounded off the week, with Andy White cleaning up with 19 pts, from Peter Taylor 18 pts on a c/b from Phil Harrison, Dave Tyler and John Hazell.
