The film was shot predominantly in and around Wagga with plenty of familiar faces in the background as extras.
“It’s a different model from the director trying to put local people and non-actors into a film and up on the big screen,” associate producer Ken Hammond said.
“Hopefully it gave people a chance to do something they wouldn’t normally.
“There is big Wagga involvement, people who see the film would notice that.”
The film was released in October last year and Mr Hammond said it has been well-received, especially in Wagga.
Stakes, about corruption in the racing industry, is now available to purchase on DVD from the Visitor Information Centre.
