Saturday morning Meet and Greet was reasonably well attended but the lousy weather did nothing to make the day a smash hit.
A small group ventured out on Sunday in spite of the weather. First stop was Temora for morning tea and then across to Barellan, ending up at Narrandera for lunch. From there it was down the back road to Coolamon and then home. A small amount of drizzle was experienced during the day but not enough to dampen the spirits.
Our next branch ride will be on Sunday, June 19 where we will motor down to Culcairn to meet up with the Albury/ Wodonga clan and then back to Wagga for a barbecue lunch in the Botanic Gardens. Our next branch meeting will be on June 21 in the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street.
WAGGA SSAA

He was followed by David Wade (181.04) and Bruce Milne (180.02).
June 18 is black powder from 1.30pm. June 19 is centrefire 100y score from 10.00.

WAGGA CITY GOLF CLUB
Due to recent heavy rain, one of the club’s major events, the 55 year old Business Girls Cup, was reduced from four to three rounds. Congratulations to Jo Williams, who netted a great score of 220 to win the cup by a handy margin from runner-up Pam Kellam 233 nett, while the best scratch score of 269 was put together by Lazetta Gaffney. Jo says her second round, a personal best of 83 off the stick for a nett 65, went a long way towards securing her big win. Long-time sponsors, Kristopher Grayden Jewelers, were thanked for their ongoing support.
In Vets news, Grahame Winson scored 28 nett to get home on a c/b from Dennis Adams in last Monday’s nine-hole stroke event, followed by Jim Briggs and Kevin Wales on 31 nett, and Hedley Chapman, Barry Longmore, Don Painter and Don Thorne, each on 33 nett.
Barney Matthews claimed Thursday’s event with 29 nett, also on a c/b, from Terry Baker and Peter Kirkman, followed by Peter Briggs, Bob Hodge, Bob Moore and John Wilson on 32 nett.
The ladies played a 4BBB stableford event last Tuesday, with the experienced team of Pat Tooze and Dawn Elliott combining well for 66 pts to win from Sue Matthews and Cae Cobby 63, and Dee Harley and Janine Fitzgerald 62 pts. NTP’s to Jenny Myers (Div 1), Cheryl Jeffrey (Div 2) and Carmel Pearce (Div 3).
The course was hammered by heavy rain last Saturday, however Peter McDonald was not deterred as he accumulated 30 pts to win the stableford event from Doug Molkentin and Steve Day. The nine-hole Sunday comp was won by Kyle Harrison with a 19 pts, from Peter McDonald 27 pts on a c/b.
ORIENTEERING
Dale Clegg took both line honours and the handicap at the WaggaRoos orienteering event last Sunday.
Conducted at Pomingalarna Reserve the adverse weather reduced participation and, although the rain held off, the low cloud was hovering just above the participants threatening to but not quite forming a fog. The many kangaroos in the area were generally interested spectators but occasionally orienteer and kangaroo met unexpectedly and startled each other.
Julie Gooding organised some interesting courses that generally offered a choice between running directly towards the target control up hill and down dale, or going wide around the hills along some of the many track and paths.
Dale Clegg had a very good run on the 3.8km Moderate course establishing a six-minute winning margin over Pauline Moore. Dale’s effort also earned handicap honours for the day. Wes Campbell finished third just ahead of Bob Moore but both were well off the pace.
Iain, Ashleigh and Eloise Crossett were fast around the 1.9km Easy course finishing well ahead of Kath Oliver.
Results: 5.9km Hard Course: John Oliver 59.13. 3.8km Moderate Course: Dale Clegg 48.07; Pauline Moore 54.38; Wes Campbell 70.19; Bob Moore 75.19. 1.9km Easy Course: Iain, Eloise and Ashleigh Crossett 31.52; Kath Oliver 51.47

Culcairn golf club
Despite the light rain a great day of golf was played on Sunday.
We are lucky to have a course that holds up very well to the rain, hardly any standing water, although Braidan spent a bit of time swimming at one stage.
The event played for was the Monthly Medal and the winner was Cameron Wood with 95 scratch/66 net. Well done, Cam. Runner-up was John Scott with 87/70. Other scores were Braidan Godde 96/78, Phil Frost 106/81.
The rest of us were scared off by the clouds and the forecast!
