For one teenager, who wishes to remain anonymous, he is dreading having to leave the comfort of Verity House, which takes youths up to 17.
He came to the centre in January after fleeing terrible circumstances at home.
The centre is helping him obtain a driver’s licence, enrol in a TAFE course and submit a housing application.
He sings the praises of the centre after it was announced Verity House is just one vital service in Wagga trying to reduce the homelessness rate by half by 2025.
Verity House’s youth outreach co-ordinator Sam Lloyd said a focus on preventative measures will go toward reducing the city’s homeless number, which is currently about 202 people.
