On Thursday, Wagga’s Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) crew were called to a drain in the city after reports of cat being trapped were received.
VRA squad captain Tim Lidden said it took 30 minutes to rescue the cat from Sackville Street.
It was 10 metres under the road ... we coaxed it out with some milk, it looked like it'd been down there for a while.

“We get a couple of jobs a year to rescue cats, it’s part of the job,” he said.
Mr Lidden said it was part of the VRA’s community service.
“It was 10 metres under the road … we coaxed it out with some milk, it looked like it’d be down there a while,” Mr Lidden said.
“The Forest Hill RFS were training just down the road, we asked some volunteers to open the other drain and help coax it out,” he said.
Mr Lidden said the cat had been taken in by animal rescue.
“We don’t know who owns the cat, we’re keen to see it returned to its owner, if it has one.”
The eight-week old kitten has been placed in a foster home with a surrogate cat and is feeding well.
Anyone wanting to claim the kitten, contact the VRA on 6921 1674.
