The popular community markets will boast 70 stall holders at its homecoming, with a large number of community groups registering to participate in the event.
The record number of stall holders represents the astounding growth the once-humble markets have experienced in the three years since its inception.
Organiser Stuart Wallace said the markets first began three years ago to provide members of the Lakeside Art Group with an avenue to showcase their artwork.
“Basically they started with members setting up their easels at the edge of the lake to show off their artworks and sell them to the public,” he said.
“It was suggested to us that we consider starting up markets that had a focus on arts and crafts.
“We had 50 stalls at the first markets.
“From there, we put in a development application with Wagga City Council to hold them on a regular basis.
“Once that was approved, the markets have only grown.”
Stuart is confident the markets will cater to everyone, with a broad range of stall holders guaranteeing to meet the needs, interests and tastes of the broader community.
“Arts and crafts are obviously the focus but that doesn’t mean we don’t have something for everyone,” he said.
“We will have pony rides, fresh produce, live chooks for sale, fishing gear and jewellery, along with plenty of delicious foods.
“Can Assist and Rotary will both have barbecues running on the day and one of the stalls will be selling pancakes.”
As visitors stroll through the large range of stalls, they will enjoy delightful live entertainment and performances by members of the Wagga Clown Club.
“This is a real community event,” he said. “The aim of the markets is to support the community and give charities a chance to raise funds to support their work.”
There is no charge to enter the markets, which will run from 9am to 2pm.
