Jump for joy

21 Apr, 2010 01:21 PM
JESSE McInnes is jumping for joy over the state of the Kooringal tennis courts.

The four courts have been resurfaced for the first time since the 1960s, with 90 tons of soil used at a cost of $15,000.

“They would be the premier clay courts in the Riverina at the moment,” Jesse said.

“We sourced the dirt locally from Rapley’s Landscape And Nursery Supplies, and they came up great.”

The tennis courts have the added feature of the newly designed Raw Courts line system.

“Usually these types of courts have the tapes and nails for the lines, but these are a revolutionary plastic line concept,” Jesse said.

“We are only the third tennis centre in Australia to have this line system.”

Kooringal hostssocial competitions on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the club is looking to expand the use of the courts.

“We are interested in organising a Monday night competition for all standards – from those starting out in tennis to the more serious – and ages,” Jesse said.
