Beth, 89, and Angie, 84, have a combined total of 70 years of lawn bowls experience and still love gracing the green each week at the Rules Club.

“I can’t play as well as I would like after breaking my leg a couple of years ago, but I now have a lot of fun playing social bowls,” Beth said.

Angie was an inaugural member of the RAFC women’s club when it formed in 1977 but did not start playing until six years later, while Beth joined in 1981 after retiring to Wagga.

Beth was twice the club’s singles champion and was also president for two terms as well as holding the position of secretary.

Angie has also been a prominent member, playing in the majority of club events and pennant teams in addition to being named RAFC patron in the early 1990s.

Their contributions have earned Beth and Angie life membership of the RAFC.

Beth, who is the club’s oldest member, and Angie have formed a strong bond through bowls.

“We have played a lot of bowls together and also against each other over the years,” Angie said.

“We’re not as serious as we used to be ... the company and the friendship mean a lot more to us these days.

“They look after us older ones.”
