CHAMPBE Joo-Lenox is only small in stature but it does not stop him from having big dreams.
At only 10 years of age, Champbe already aspires to follow in the footsteps of his father Scott Lennox and become a professional golfer.
“I’d love to be a professional one day and play golf all over the world,” Champbe said.
Champbe and his brother Chelsea, 8, have been regular fixtures at the Wagga City Club – which is run by Scott and his wife Joo – during the school holidays.
“I practise every day and play in the men’s comp on Wednesdays and Saturdays,” said Champbe, who will be in year 5 at Wagga Christian College this year.
Champbe is enjoying a meteoric rise through the golfing ranks.
“I first picked up a golf club when I was one and I have been playing in the men’s competition since I was seven,” he said.
Champbe started on a handicap of 36 and in less than three years has slashed the figure to 16.
“My best score so far is 79, which I had in August last year,” he said.
Champbe made his mark when he won the junior division of the 2010 club championships.
Chelsea, who is heading into year 3, plays off 32 in the men’s competition.
“I like everything about golf, but putting is my favourite thing,” Chelsea said.
