Grahame is still celebrating his second hole-in-one at the Wagga City Golf Club’s 13th hole in the space of just two years.

“They have been a couple of lucky shots and coincidentally both have been at the 13th,” he said.

The 60-year-old, who plays off a handicap of eight, had a long wait to hit his first “perfect shot”.

“I started playing golf when I was 20, so it was almost 40 years before I had my first hole-in-one,” he said.

“Now I have had two ... it’s funny how things go.”

Grahame went close to landing the ball in the hole with his second ace.

“I hit this one well and it landed two inches in front of the hole before it looked to sit on the lip and then drop in,” he said.

Grahame has had more time to work on his golf game since retiring in 2002 after spending 35 years in the police force.

“I now play in competitions four days a week, so I have a lot more opportunities these days,” he said.

Grahame marvels at the condition of the Pomingalarna course, despite the hot and dry weather.

“The course is absolutely lush ... I have never seen it better,” he said.

“(Professional) Scott Lennox is really showing his commitment to the place.”

Grahame, a Wagga City member for 22 years, believes the club is making the most of the lifelines it has been thrown.

“We have to says thanks to the RSL Club for saving the club five years ago and to Scott for keeping the good work going,” he said.
