RON Piltz was a valued volunteer at St Vincent de Paul and also a popular member of the Kapooka Golf Club.
Both organisations felt a huge loss when Ron died last year following an illness.
Fond memories of a mate will be relived at the inaugural Ron Piltz Memorial Golf Classic at the Kapooka club on Sunday, July 5.
Fittingly, money raised on the day will be presented to St Vincent de Paul.
"Ron was a popular face at the club and we thought this would be a great way to honour him," Mark Kells said.
A St Vincent de Paul volunteer for four years, Ron helped to repair furniture and unload trucks.
"He was a great bloke to have around," fellow volunteer Des O'Rourke said.
More than $800 in prizes and prizemoney will be on offer at the classic, which is a three-person ambrose for golfers of all ability ? with or without handicaps ? at an entry fee of $20.
The day will be capped off with a barbecue and bar facilities will be available.
There will be a shotgun start at 10am, with bookings essential to Mark on 0412 494 978 by next Wednesday.
