Aaron aims to be tennis ace

05 Aug, 2009 01:00 AM
AARON Wilson has been prepared to make sacrifices for his sporting goals.

The 14-year-old is now reaping the rewards for the hard work he is putting in to his tennis.

"I used to play touch and soccer and do swimming, but now I am focused on my tennis," Aaron said.

Aaron did not take up tennis until he was 12 but he blossomed under the watchful eye of respected Wagga coach Roman Adamcewicz.

"Tennis is always something I have wanted to try and I am loving it," he said.

Aaron has weekly lessons and also plays in the Saturday morning competition at Bolton Park before backing up later in the day in Roman's Masters event at Forest Hill.

He celebrated a highlight at the weekend when he was runner-up in the 14 years boys B grade category at the Temora tournament.

"That has been my best tournament result so far," Aaron said.

"I have been working hard on my game and have seen the improvement."

Roman's Saturday afternoon competitions cater for juniors of all abilities.

His junior event – between 3pm and 5pm – allows youngsters to play in a friendly and relaxed format, providing them with a stepping stone to competitive tennis.

The Masters provides more serious tournament play, with proper tie-breaker sets.
